Just a quick question regarding PlusBus. Tomorrow I'll be travelling to Manchester from Huddersfield for a concert, and staying with a friend in Longsight. If I get PlusBus on my ticket, will that be valid as far as Longsight, and does PlusBus allow unlimited travel within the zone or is it restricted to one connecting journey? I have ASD, so was unable to make sense of the information on plusbus.info.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Yes, valid to Longsight and valid for unlimited travel for one day.

Longsight is well within the boundary as shown in this map.

Thanks for the speedy response! Am I also right in assuming that a period return with PlusBus would be valid to get back into Manchester (city centre) on the return then?

You will need a PlusBus for the date of the outward journey, and another one for the date of your return journey, if not on the same day. Each PlusBus ticket is only valid for one day.

OK- So the PlusBus is issued as a different ticket (card) then? I'd assumed it'd just be labelled 'Manchester Stns PlusBus' or similar in the appropriate origin/destination section. I'll make sure I specify that I want the PlusBus on both the Out and Return then. Thanks!

The PlusBus is a separate ticket and issued on one coupon. It is issued from MANCHESTER STNS to MANCHESTER+BUS.

You just need to tell the clerk that you require two of them, one for outward and one for return, and tell him/her what your return date is.

That map really underestimates the validity. It's valid on buses throughout Greater Manchester.

Validity includes:

http://www.plusbus.info/sites/default/files/pdfs/Manchester-North map Dec 2013.pdf

and

http://www.plusbus.info/sites/default/files/pdfs/Manchester-South map Dec 2013.pdf

I know. I was trying to keep it simple, but as you say, it is valid throughout Greater Manchester.

Yes, you get a separate PlusBus ticket coupon with the two-coupon return rail ticket.

Thanks for the help, folks. I'll be getting an open off-peak return, though I do know which day I'm coming back anyway. On the return I'll most likely only be making that one journey- so may just pay cash on the bus rather than a plusbus that I'll only use once.
