Dublin DART EMU classes 8500 / 8510 / 8520 .... are they AC or DC motor ?

Their age ought to make them AC motor .... but I can't track down any gen on this.

Anyone cite an authoritative technical source on them, Tokyu own site does not have this gen.

Ehhh ?

Are you sure you have the right units ?

8500 new 2001
8510 new 2003
8520 new 2004

In theory that makes them AC motor by age, since - outside of USA and Russian - virtually everyone stopped building DC motor trains in the 1990s. However, I was not sure about these, hence my question.

On another forum - WNXX - an answer has been given QUOTE Four 3 phase 4 pole squirrel cage AC induction motors. Source: Irish Railways Platform 5 Book. END QUOTE

Sorry your correct, I have no idea why I posted those years as I had the correct ones like you and changed, one of those days.

All 8500's are AC motors while 8100 are DC motors.
