Who did you buy it from?

I bought from Southern online. I live in lancashire. Silly question I'm sure but would northern refund minus the 10 pound?

Northern can take the tickets off you but they would be sent to Southern to process the refund. You would have to pay Northern to do this, because the tickets cost less than the cost of the admin fee

If you had chosen the option to collect from a machine, and had not yet collected them, there would be no admin fee to pay, and you would have got a full refund. www.southernrailway.com/offers/money-back-guarantee/‎

My tickets are 1495 in total. What are my options?

In each case your option is to use the ticket, or not use the ticket.

As it sounds like none of the tickets cost less than £10, a refund would not be good value ;)

I believe you have two tickets, one with a Railcard and one without, for two people to make a return journey from any Zone 1/2 station towards Greenwich, which you can use for a single journey from Euston to North Greenwich (stopping/starting "short" at London Bridge, as advised above).

So I would suggest you use them.

My suggestion is firstly to obtain some oyster cards online (these can be posted out to you), then to use your original tickets as booked from central London to Greenwich, finally get the bus from there to North Greenwich.

Have you been to Greenwich before? If not it is well worth a visit esp. if you are into our maritime history. Of course there is also the Royal Observatory & the Prime Meridian.

Just a random thought! Does the Thames Clipper go anyway near North Greenwich? It won't be the cheapest option but a trip on the river (however short) is always enjoyable. You can pick the Clipper up near the Cuty Sark.

Note that the Oyster single fare is now £1.45. The cash fare and multi-journey cap on Oyster remain at the above levels.

oops.

although in my defence, I got the numbers from a TfL page that a search engine found me at the time I posted. Maybe it found an obsolete page.

This has current (January 2014) bus / tram fares.

I believe that your existing ticket is valid for at least your outward journey. The outward portion is valid to London Bridge, and from London Bridge to North Greenwich you can use the Underground element of the return portion. You are not gonna need to use the National Rail element of your ticket as you are not actually going to Greenwich. You won't get any money back for the ticket as the admin fee of £10 is more than the value of the ticket so might as well use it.

For the return journey just get an Oyster card each, stick £5 credit on them and use PAYG. Keep the card for the next time you are in London. It will be well worth it. Cash single/return fare in London is pretty much a rip-off. For example, if you are travelling out of Euston after 0930, you could have bought an Off-Peak Day Travelcard throughout Zones 1-6 - unlimited travel for one day for £8.90.

Hello, please can you confirm that I will be able to exit North greenwich with the return portion of my ticket. This as advised from you is what I'm going to do. Is North greenwich barriered and would it except my return portion?

I believe you have two tickets, one with a Railcard and one without, for two people to make a return journey from any Zone 1/2 station towards Greenwich, which you can use for a single journey from Euston to North Woolwich (stopping/starting "short" at London Bridge, as advised above).

So I would suggest you use them.

Did you mean North greenwich?

Oops - typo!

To clarify...

Tickets from any Z1/2 station to Greenwich are used on the OUT portion from Euston (Z1) to London Bridge (Northern Line), where you "finish short" and switch to the RTN portion, "starting short", you then use the RTN portion on the jubilee Line to North Greenwich. (Of course you could use these tickets to actually visit Greenwich, if you want to!)

You use Oyster Pay As You Go on the return, paying about 1/4 of the cost!

Sorted. That's what I'm going to do then. Thank you. I'll just ask 2 further questions as a first time tube user. 1. On arrival at North Greenwich do I enter tickets into some sort of Barrier/gate to leave the station? Also if I wanted to pay cash for a single journey after 11pm is there a facility to do so at this time of night at North Greenwich station? Thank you.

1) Yes you put your ticket through the barrier
2) There certainly should be, though cash single fares are extremely expensive.

Thank you, I'll definitely come here for help and info in the future. 1. So the barrier will except my return portion at North greenwich? It's programmed to know that I'm in between stations? I do trust you honest. 2. Ok thanks.

The RTN portion of your ticket is issued as From "Greenwich" To: "Zone 12 London" (or similar wording). The barriers at a Zone 2 station such as North Greenwich should be programmed to accept a ticket which is valid to any Zone 1 or Zone 2 station, but in the unlikely event of any issues, simply show the ticket to the gateline assistant.

Yes thank you. My return portion says from greenwich to U12* LONDN. You've been great and very patient with me.
