Replys in red, note that Germany is not always straightforward regarding routeing, you have to pay attention to which way you are going sometimes! Distances are in kilometres, multiply by 0.6214 to get decimal miles.

Munich Flughafen - Munich Hbf which route? There are two, via Neufahrn (40.8km) or Ismaning (36.8km)
Munich Hbf - Nuremberg Hbf which route again? Via the new line from Ingolstadt (170.4km) or via Treuchtlingen (197.7km)
Nuremberg Messe - Nuremberg Hbf (U Bahn) Sorry, don't have U Bahn distances.
Cologne Flughafen - Cologne Hbf 14.8km
Cologne Hbf - Dusseldorf Flughafen 47.7km (you do mean Düsseldorf Flughafen station on the main line and not Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal on the S Bahn? 47.1km)

Thanks for your help. Had forgotten about some of complications!

Ismaning both ways it seems - we went S8 both times (on my own Id have probably done the cicle but I was with family :P)

Munich Hbf - Nuremberg Hbf which route again? Via the new line from Ingolstadt (170.4km) or via Treuchtlingen (197.7km)

May need help on this - we went ICE1 both ways but I'm not certain of the route. I know we called somewhere though...

Cologne Hbf - Dusseldorf Flughafen 47.7km (you do mean Düsseldorf Flughafen station on the main line and not Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal on the S Bahn? 47.1km)

I'm glad you mentioned this - I looked and through Wikipedia kept pulling up the S-Bahn station, which didn't make sense (my records show we had DB 146 026 which doesn't match the usual S-Bahn stock!...thinking harder we squeezed our luggage onto the downstairs of a double decker coach too...that was hard work!) so definitely was the main line!

Ingolstadt, I'm guessing that its more than likely you went via the "Neubaustrecke" but the Germans can and do divert with the minimum of fuss if there are any problems. One way to tell is if you arrived at Nürnberg facing west then you went via the NBS, if you arrived facing east and the train reversed then you went via Treuchtlingen. Another sign is that the NBS is a lot faster and fairly featureless whereas the old route twists and turns a bit and has more of note to look at.

Regarding Düsseldorf Flughafen, if you were on an RE service with a 146 then you definitely went to the mainline station.

If you did the main line station, then can you remember if you also did the monorail to get you to the airport from there? If so, I have a mileage (or kilometreage!) for that somewhere if you need it.

Ingolstadt rings a bell - I recall it being a modern looking station. I have been a bit lax and must admit these journeys took place last February and I never sorted the mileages! Can't remember the way out but on the way back I am certain the train did not reverse so it sounds like the NBS. We hit 250km/h at least on the way according to the screens.

Now you mention it, yes, I believe we did do the monorail. If you are able to send me the distances, it would be appreciated, but don't worry if not :)
