Metrolink - Old Trafford Depot

From Monday, Gate 2 of Old Trafford Depot (the one onto the Altrincham Line) will be fully operational under TMS control. This will allow 29 trams to be operated from the depot rather than the current 18 using the existing gate 3(the one onto the SML). The increase of trams is due to the transfer of Eccles/MediaCity trams to Old Trafford from Queens Road which will mean that trams heading back to the depot won't have to operate through the ATS signalled area. It looks as if Piccadilly - Altrincham trams will continue to be split between Old Trafford and Queens Road.

Isn't that technically ambiguous in that if everything was operational there would be three gates, of which two would be onto the Altrincham line? The one that will be operational is the Manchester-facing one.

Perhaps however I was trying to differentiate between the already operational gate and the other gates.

Ahem..... QRD doesn't send any picc-alt trams out?

Perhaps you meant bury-altrinchams?

On a Sunday only, QRD does put some trams on Picc-Alt (as well as duties with a changeover at Picc). All other days the turnout is exclusively OT.

I've just had a look through my duty cards. Just 2 trams leave QRD on a Sunday morning to go on alt-pics. Hence why I wasn't aware of it.
