Is it possible to find out in advance which services between London and Birmingham / Wolverhampton on routes A and B are Pendolinos and which are Voyagers?

Is there a pattern to which type of stock is used?

Many thanks.

If you go Yahoo Groups and join the Virgin-Trains group you can then access a file with all the current Virgin West Coast Diagrams for Pendolinos ( 9 & 11car) and Voyagers ( 5 & 10 car).:D

Do you know the name of this file?

I assume it's Virgin Dec 2013 diagrams.docx

I downloaded that and I don't see any mention of 9/11 and 5/10 car formations. I also don't see 'Pendolino/390' or 'Voyager/221' mentioned, although am I right in assuming that Voyagers cover the diagrams where the word 'FUEL' is mentioned? Am I missing something blindingly obvious?

You've found the correct file.
Diagrams beginning with a 1 are 11 car Pendolinos eg VW 101 through to VW 132 (SX).
Those starting with a 5 are Voyagers, if two diagrams are combined it will be 10 car.(eg VW 503 SX 07.35 Chester to Euston is combined with VW 514 to make 10 car)
Diagrams beginning with 9 are 9 car Pendolinos eg VW 933 through to VW 950 (SX).
Hope that helps.

Searched for and found this thread as I'm booking London to Wolverhampton on 2nd March as found a good value advance 1st to there (I actually live in Manchester and was going to book to BHM but not realised I can go another ~20mins north for the same price!). However I would like a Pendolino for hopefully a nice quiet almost empty carriage and trying to figure out the diagram from the PDF is failing me. Would like to catch either the 18:40, 19:00, or 19:20 from EUS. Which is best? All are same price. Also what's the connection time at WOlverhampton? Have tried to find out on NRE but seems impossible!!! As going to book 21:19 to SOT at latest where I'll connect with a Virgin to Manchester as will have a SOT to MAN ticket. Many thanks! Slightly faffy route I know but good value on a Sunday!

On Sundays 9K98 18.40 is due to be a 9-car Pendolino ( goes through to Crewe), 1G52 19.00 to Wolverhampton is due to be an 11-car Pendolino, 1G54 19.20 is 2 x 5-car Voyager and 9P99 19.40 is an 11-car Pendolino ( goes through to Preston)
10 mins is sufficient connection time.

Good job I checked at ticket desk as peter166 the 19:00 and 18:40 are in fact Voyagers and 19:20 a pendolino!
