Virgin Super Off Peak Travelcard

Hi

I am going to London on 8th Feb, and have booked the Virgin super off peak travelcard, from Manchester to London Euston.

However, from there I am going to the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. The easiest way seems to be Tube from Euston to Highbury & Islington, and then Overground to Shoreditch High St.

Would the ticket be valid on the overground?

If not, im guessing the best route would be Euston Square to either Liverpool street or Aldgate East.

If it's a travelcard then yes it's valid.

It is valid on all London Underground, National Rail (including London Overground), DLR, Tramlink and TfL (Transport for London) bus services within Zones 1-6.

Please do check the train times, as you should be sat down on a train from Shoreditch an hour before the departure time of your booked train back to Manchester.

If you want to reply with the time of your train back we'll let you know the latest train you can take back from Shoreditch to be covered in the event of overground/tube delays

The return part of these tickets is not tied to a specific train, so the OP can afford to be a bit more hit-and-miss than that, should they fancy it (and with 3tph to Manchester, who can blame them!)

However, if they are intending to get the last train and want to be covered in case of a delay on the journey into Euston, then your advice holds solid.

Ah, I thought those were booked train only both ways.

The last train from London is unfortunately early, departing Euston at 2100. The OP needs to take the train that departs Shoreditch High Street at 20:04, to be covered in the event of Overground or Underground delays. It might be physically possible to leave Shoreditch on a later train, but this would require running, and you would not be covered if you missed it.

London Overground trains on that line do have a habit/policy of departing early, so I would aim to be through the gateline at Shoreditch at 20:00.

Assuming the final destination is Manchester Piccadilly, and assuming a bus from Stockport is acceptable, the latest departure time from Shoreditch, which forms a valid connection, is 2004.

Walking to Aldgate (East) or Old Street isn't far but might push the latest officially connecting departure back. I haven't checked though

I will probably get the overground to Camden, go to the Brewdog bar, and hopefully have time to go in the Euston Taps after.

There is a brewdoig bar opposite the end of Brick Lane near Shoreditch station

Sorry, another quick question! Is Shoreditch also an underground station on the red line?

You mean the Central Line?

No, it is not, but Liverpool Street is not far from Shoreditch High Street at all, so you may want to walk from there.

That looks fairly straightforward. If I leave Brewdog Shoreditch at say 6 I assume Ill have plenty of time to get back on overground to Euston. Looking on the journey planner the train/underground should take around 40 mins

Other options at Euston, both of which offer a discount with a CAMRA membership card, are the Bree Louise (see first link blow) and the Royal George (a Taylor Walker pub).

Do you mean which type of traction? If so, then it will be a Pendolino.

I don't think it is possible to tell in advance of the day of travel the unit number, nor whether it will be a 9-car or an 11-car.
