Sad that it needs to be hauled. Faulty or regulation?

It's preserved; it's part of 1537 being restored to pre-refurbished condition as 7105. All four cars, I believe.

I doubt it there are any drivers with the required traction knowledge for these units anymore, the lack of GSMR radio would also be a stumbling block. That's if the unit was actually serviceable I don't think it even has it's shoegear attached anymore.

It's preserved; it's part of 1537 being restored to pre-refurbished condition as 7105. All four cars, I believe.

Correct and Correct - It's actually of the 1st and last remaining 4 BEP EMUs which used to reside on the Kent and East Sussex, but (via road transport to Stewards Lane) is now at Eastleigh Works for 'De-Furbishing' by Arlington Fleet Services.

In one respect i'm sad to see this be converted as it's how I remember them, but on the other it'll be good to see a Southern EMU restored back to it's original condition and hopefully funding permitting back out on the mainline. As for the livery, it's going back to BR Green condition most likely with small yellow warning panels (it's retained it's marker light presumably for future mainline running).

There are a few CEP‘s around in refurbed condition, so it will be good to see one as original (like fgwch, my memory of them is as refurbed, although I have strong recollections of a journey in what was probably an original condition one as a child). From pictures, the interiors strongly resembled those of the Hastings DEMU's.

An excellent endevour by the preservationists I think.

I just read on the website that the loco had to run around.
Presumably it also had to run around the translator(?) car as well?
There can't be many places where this is an easy move to do? Especially outside of depots

I'd say that it would just be a straight run round the train assuming that they were using extension air pipes instead of that coach to get to the high level pipes and the coach was only being used for brake force...

ahh, I has assumed it was being used to convert from one type of coupling to another
