Does anyone know when the ECML webcam near newark flat crossing will be back up and running? It's been offline for several weeks now.

There used to be another cam on this site at Grassthrope crossing though, and that had sound so at least you didn't have to stare at it waiting for a train, you could here one approaching as the drivers all whistled. This other camera was also far better resolution.

Rail cams are becoming more popular, and I have just registered with Railcam.
http://www.railcam.org.uk/

Now what I want to know is, if I go and sit at Euxton Junction and record what I see that is acceptable train spotting.
However if I sit at home and watch it live on the webcam (and assuming I could of course see all the train numbers) would the trains I see be acceptable as being 'spotted'? :)

No because you might as well just search for images of the trains online

HI there just wondering if anyone else has tried the live signalling maps on railcam.org.uk ive made a small donation to the website for this and tried it out last night I would recommend this to anyone its brilliant

Maps cover from Glasgow Central to Warrington on the WCML and from Berwick to Doncaster on ECML its fab for spotting as I tried it on my iphone which worked great

Well worth the donation

Technically the cam is at Balshaw Lane which is passed the junction towards Chorley, I suspect that the trains you are seeing on RTT are the ones taking that route and nothing much is passing Balshaw Lane because of the WCML being closed until the 22nd

Not 100% sure but that would be my guess.
Always useful to use the Euxton Jn diagram on the same page as the cam, which track the trains as they move through the area.

I hope that helps.

Maybe an admin could go through the web cams list and delete the non working ones, a lot of "page not found"

Would someone be able to pinpoint the exact location of the Dawlish webcam on googlemaps for me?
Thank you.

Don't worry I've found it!

Thanks for that info. What is the reason for the shutdown at Dawlish?

Apparently railcam doesn't have enough donations to keep dawlish going. That's why railcam is now making railway diagrams of the network to get more donations.

The reason is that the the property where the camera is hosted is being sold by the owner
