350404 & 350405 are currectly sat in Trafford Park, just changing ends before going onto Ardwick

Are they going under their own power to Ardwick, or is the 92 taking them in their current consist?

I have seen a video on YouTube of the formation and yes, one of the 350's has been pretty badly tagged, sadly

The tags do look a mess maybe the TPE transfers will be applied earlier than expected.

404 and 405 won't be in traffic for a while yet, there's lots of prep that needs doing in this country before they can start work (and the graffiti can be scrubbed off in the meanwhile).

Some ejit on the Manchester Skyscraper City site thinks it were done in France!

404 has reported to have been graffitied while in France

You can't blame the French for everything, although many would like to.

It's clearly in German.

Aren't you delightful
I hadn't seen the graffiti when I posted that I was going off what someone said on WNXX so excuse me for not being psychic and not seeing the image yet. I don't see you keeping people updated which is merely what I did. Thanks also for putting me in a great mood now<( :o

Regarding Victoria, it appears that the track dropping has now been completed today, on the MCV thread on SCC. Or should I not post on there incase I post something which is wrong(!)

Only the front 4 carriages on a 8 car set will be used at Oxford Road, as the rear 2 carriages are off the platform

Do the 350s have SDO or is it the same as when a 6 car 185 working from Liverpool to Newcastle/Scarborough called at Irlam when they said anyone wanting to alight at Irlam must board the front train only?

Does it have to be front train only? 6 car 185's don't fit in South Parkway and I am sure that when I was sat in the back car the guard came through and just locked out that one and asked me to move up one car to get off.

When stopped at platform 4 on Monday, only the rear 2 doors were off the platform (well, one was at a very narrow part and the other would have been just off the ramp). We are not sure how far along the platform the service went, as it extends, at a narrow part, across the bridge. We were stopped clear of platform 5 and the junction as a service left from platform 5 not long after our arrival.

As far as I am aware, they have UDS (Unit DeSelect) like the 185's. The plus point though being the corridor connections, of course.

I suspect it could be possible to lock out the doors on an individual basis and release from the local door control in the middle carriage. However, I'm not sure if such is standard practice and on a busy service (which, to be fair, is most of them!), there would be no way to get to the local doors to lock them out

Ah, that would make sense, the service I was on was mid morning and was fairly quiet, I was actually surprised it was 6 cars. Not many services in to Liverpool seem to be even during the peak periods.

For such a railway station that was opened as recently as 2006, that does indeed seen rather shortsighted in its planning.

350404 and 350405 are currently on their way north, they were stood on the down slow at 16:15 behind 92032. I believe the train had failed as my train had a special stop order for wolverton on the up fast to drop a gb driver off to it. 404 has been grafittied quite badly towards the front as well.

92032 is staying busy. It's just passed my office at Trafford Park on the 476G to Felixstowe.

It is certainly a shame but I am guessing that in order to extend the platforms towards Lime Street it would have required the replacement of the 2 bridges over the dual carriageway and the cost and disruption would have been an issue. Oddly enough the platform at my local station which is the next one down the line is long enough for a Pendolino however it would have made no sense to build the station there. Funny how things work out.

I'm not sure the platforms at LPY could have made that much longer given the junction at one end and bridges at the other.

Network Rail's platform lengthening plans for CP5 include making 2 platforms at South Parkway upper level 144m long.

At the time it was built only Merseytravel and Northern had agreed to stopped there. Later half the Liverpool-Birmingham services were added and then Liverpool-Norwich, then the rest of Liverpool-Birmingham services with Liverpool-Scarborough being the most recent addition.

It was believed TPE had no plans to serve South Parkway at the time of construction due to a conflict of interest with a business relationship TPE had with Manchester Airport.

The most recent addition is in fact the South Parkway to Blackpool service but I am being petty now. Ha ha. It is a brilliant station and I'm made up TPE stop there as well. At first even Stagecoach buses didn't stop there as they decided it was a white elephant. I think it would be a slight backwards step if TPE move ll their services to the Chat Moss route even with an increased half hourly EMT service.

At the very short stations like Dalton and Staveley passengers have to alight and board through the centre door only of a 3-car set.

£££ when specced!

True!

Are there any photos of the new 350s in service?

Yep, here :)

Staveley isn't that short - both there and Burneside, now as non-request stops, open all their doors (though still released from the middle)

Either way, I'm sure it isn't beyond the scope of what is achievable to manually lock a door (or doors) out of use (as if they were broken) so they won't release when a full release is put up (I have seen Chiltern do something similar on the line between Leamington and Stratford before) but it would be time consuming and at times, not possible

Not sure is this has previously been mentioned, but before the grafittied unit left the European mainland, would full details have been sent to Britain in order that unit acceptance would have been given...or not...by the British importers ?

I presume the 350404 & 405 batch remain with Siemens in the UK for the moment. Siemens will presumably do the work/have the work done in the UK before handover to TPE. There's no separate importer as such.
