2014 wishes (railway wise)

2014 is on the way, what improvements would you like to see on the railways in 2014, one of mine is beginning of the refurbishment of GA mk3 stock as is such on chilterns mk3's. What about you?

More stock for southeastern so they can run longer trains, particularly by the time the London Bridge rebuild is in full swing.

HS2 steaming ahead and Crossrail 2 making real strides.

Bristol's metro finally getting the go ahead and it not being the UK city with the least investment. Every year plans are announced and put back. It's mostly only 2 tph and some old stations reopened in populated areas!

The announcement of a passing loop at Lockwood (and extending over the viaduct towards Berry Brow) to allow 2tph Huddersfield to Sheffield, the second service maybe skipping smaller calls such as Berry Brow, Stocksmoor, Silkstone Common and Dodworth, if that can be made to work.

Either that or the Horbury curve!

The abolition of peak fares on Oyster between 27th and 31st December.

London Overground to offer all TfL products, including discounted Bus and Tram passes on Oyster in addition to Oyster refunds. All ticket staff are given training on National Rail ticket types and what they do, which would stop the issues found by members on Rail UK Forums.

Southern to have Oyster facilities at the ticket office at Peckham Rye and Queens Road Peckham.

London Underground to keep full ticket office facilities at more Zone 1 stations than expected in addition to the 'Gateway' stations along with Stratford.

ATOC and TfL announce ticketing arrangements for when Platform 6 is closed at London Bridge, which means Charing Cross services won't stop at the station from Jan 2015. Customers with Oyster PAYG will be charged NR fares if travelling between the NR and LU stations at London Bridge to Southwark, Waterloo, Embankment and Charing Cross. The same arrangement will be in place between Cannon Street and Embankment. FCC customers will have the same arrangement between London Bridge and Kings Cross St Pancras or Kentish Town on the Northern line.

We should have the 350/3 and 350/4s introduced in LM and TPE areas, shouldn't we?

Improved passenger information at Birmingham New Street would be nice.

Introduction of The Key on all LM services, and acceptance of Swift on all trains and metro within Network West Midlands area towards the end of the year, but that would probably need automatic ticket barriers at New Street which won't happen until the concourse is fully complete.

It needs to be much more then just some extra ticket facilities, I wish that in 2014 the cuts would be abandoned. Check out RMT campaign every job matters
