I know that UK Railtours use EMT HSTs on excursions. Do they predominantly have to be on the Midland Mainline with some extensions?

Which TOCs have HSTs that they can hire out? Can they use them on other routes away from their core business? FGW/XC?

What do Arriva Trains Wales do with their WAG stock at weekends? Could it be used on charter at the weekend (How much do they have in total)?

Could Chiltern have loco hauled stock to hire out at weekends?

Interested!

EMT HSTs can go anywhere HSTs can go (which is most of the network, as I understand it). I'm pretty sure one went to Sherringham not too long ago?

Not always the case.

There have been trips where UK railtours have been the booking agents for the tours, but most of them have been UK Railtours where the set has been hired from EMT.

Of the UK railtours with EMT sets i have done, its been abit of both. All start have started at St Pancras, if the tour is staying on EMT route then they will crew it for the day, if its going off EMT route a GBRF driver takes over.

Other TOC's that have been hiring out HST's, FGW have been with the Cotswold Line Promotional Group, both of which have gone off the FGW area in the last couple of years.

Not yet, close by though. Twice they have been to Dereham.

So could for instance a an EMT or FGW HST operate a Ludlow to Scotland charter? Hypothetically speaking!

Indeed. I heard there's a desire to send an EMT HST from St Pancras to a certain picturesque line in Scotland.

I believe Mark 3 coaches are not allowed to Sheringham so no full HST set, this is also why the GA Class 47 + mk3 + DVT combo has never been to Sheringham. A EMT class 158 did make it to Sheringham in April though!

(Sorry to go off topic a bit)
