I'm trying to advise a friend who has a seat reservation in Coach K on a Virgin Super Voyager London Euston to Chester 18:10. They will have at least 2 cases with them and although I know the seat Reservation is at the Shop end of coach K, I don't know how to identify the Shop end. Despite having travelled this route hundreds of times I've never really taken much notice if it's obvious where the Shop is on the Super Voyager from the outside. I'm trying to avoid them getting on the wrong end of coach K and having to drag their cases the length of the carriage - which is what everyone else seems to do

North (down) wards, it's the second vehicle and the shop is at the north end

OTOH, there is a sign by each door which says which seats are accessible from said door

North? The friend is female - North will not equate! I've tried searching Google images for a picture of the outside to see if it's recognisable but can't seem to find one.

The shop is the opposite end of the coach to First Class, towards the centre of the train. First Class can be noted from the outside, as the train approaches, by a yellow stripe on the coupling, if there is no yellow stripe it is the standard class end.

That'll probably confuse her even more. But I'll try and explain - so if the First Class Carriages are at the Concourse end of Euston then the Shop will be at the furthest end of coach K from 1st class? I'm positive somewhere on the outside I've seen 'The Shop' in six inch high letters - or was it a dream!

North end is away from the concourse at Euston (where the barrier is), also as it's coach K, it will be a double unit. Not sure if ABCDE is first or second unit

I think that was a dream......

The shop is at the end of the coach where the windows are not right next to the door.

Good stuff - I'm sure it's obvious when you see it. Must have a look next time I'm on one - probably this Friday.

OK – all makes senses now – coaches D + E (K + L on double length trains) are First Class with D (K) used for standard class on this train. So First Class D + E (K + L) would encompass both coaches on some trips with The Shop the break point at the end of First Class before going into Standard Class. Got there in the end – I’m a bit slow today!

(=(----------A----------)(----------B----------)(----------C----------)((SHOP)----D----------)(----------E----------)=)

(=(----------G----------)(----------H----------)(----------J----------)((SHOP)----K----------)(----------L----------)=)
