East Cheshire.
Greave Clough Farm was once said to be the most westerly settlement in Yorkshire. Does anyone know of its exact location and how far it is from the Lancashire coastline.

I wonder if Allinsons also had a bank, if it would have the same motto as its famous bread for its bank accounts, that would betray its Yorkshire long-held belief of carefulness with money...

Now't tekken out....:D

The saying goes that only two good things ever came out of Yorkshire - the M62, and Tetleys best bitter!

Whitby is in Yorkshire is it not ?

I like that place a lot, especially the trip across the moors from Cleveland.

Am I the only person on here who has a Yorkshire Bank account - certainly I'm the only one in Falkirk :p

Yes it is :)

I was surprised to find I think it was a Yorkshire Bank on a visit to Scotland the other year...my friend who I was with couldn't quite understand how far we'd invaded :P

Bit like being in London Liverpool Street station a few years back and there being a "Welcome to Yorkshire" advertising board...not withstanding that if you're trying to get to Yorkshire, that is totally the wrong station to be at :P

You can always tell a Yorkshireman, but you can't tell him much

I'm born and bred West Yorkshire, lived in Leeds most of my life. With a 2 year period living in Balne in North Yorkshire for work reasons, back in Leeds now though.

I do the normal stuff, support Leeds United, Leeds rugby teams and Yorkshire CCC.

I do like Yorkshire, big bustling cities like Leeds and Sheffield (with Hull improving hugely) the superb landscapes of the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales, the flat plains of East Yorkshire.

However, it's not all glamour. Ever been to the Dearne Valley? Mexborough? Denaby?

The flat planes of east yorkshire are amongst the dullest places in the country. Ha ha. I jest of course. The East Coast Mainline is pretty boring until you get to Durham though.

Or Wakefield, Dewsbury, Batley, Castleford, Bradford, Keighley, Halifax, Barnsley, Rotherham, Goole.... oh the list could go on!

As another Lancastrian, I think that most Yorkshire people are O.K. Both counties have their own numbers of jobsworths & undesirables. The only real friendly rivalry is between cricket & rugby league teams.

But please, Yorkshire people - do something about your football teams - this Lancastrian keeps hoping to see Leeds & Sheffield as the top 2 "Uniteds" in England, being fed up with the Lancashire "United" using its megabucks to "poach" the best players from less affluent clubs. .
