Some of you will recall much disruption on the Edinburgh-Glasgow main line over three years ago, caused by the destruction by fire of a popular bar/hotel directly adjacent to Linlithgow Station - the Star and Garter. (Closed thread at http://railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=37414)

Just a brief note to say that it has been totally reconstructed by new owners, looks great, and, from early reports, is worth a visit if you happen to find time on your hands while waiting for a train. This may well be the case in future during the closure of Winchburgh Tunnel for electrification!

Linlith..... where?

Only joking! ;) I have been there and from what I've seen, it looks a nice little town. Very ideally situated too, and now of course home to the "Teen Canteen"! :D

ooh. Used to frequent there when a student at Edinburgh- I was in the sailing club, we sailed on Linlithgow Loch and usually got the train out. Could do with a station departure board in the pub...

I used to drive past that every day on my way to Kirkliston - is it just a pub or a Hotel as well now ?
