One delay repay claim per day on season tickets?

On the day of the storms (October 28?) i had to make multiple journeys from Catford/Lewisham into Farringdon and back owing to work and other things.

All of my journeys was delayed or cancelled in some way beyond the 30 minute threshold:
    • No service via Catford until late morning
    • No service on the hayes line until late morning
    • No service on the thameslink core until afternoon

I put in a DR claim for each one as i was either hours late or simply wasn't able to travel at all. SE sent me one travel voucher for approx £5.30 for my failed trip between Catford and Farringdon (which on the letter they changed to Crofton Park and Cannon Street, i dont have the voucher so i can't confirm the exact amount until later) and then rejected the rest of them because "you are only allowed one DR claim a day".

So, is the DR amount i was paid correct (the journey from CTF to ZFD to be made at 0720 on a weekday), and is what they are saying about "one a day" correct too?

I have an annual zone 1-3 travelcard.

You seem to have been rather lucky as the disruption was clearly beyond the railway network's control.
It is irrelevant what caused the disruption under Delay Repay; the company has to pay out for any cancellation or delay which takes the customer over the threshold.

In any way, your point is somewhat debatable, as it could be argued that the disruption could have been minimised should the railway companies involved taken different action, but for financial reasons they decided not to.

 Moot point as to whether - for a Travelcard holder - the amount of Delay Repay that one may claim is effectively capped at the pro-rata daily cost of the actual Travelcard (in this instance £5.20 as calculated by Sheff1).

Someone who isn't me made one claim to SE for each of two journeys that day and received a RTV for each. This was on a season ticket.

However, I do agree with the other posters that SE are only obliged to pay out 1x the daily pro-rata.

Of course they're correct to enforce this policy. Otherwise season ticket holders could claim they wanted to travel back and forth between two stations as many times as possible in one day in order to maximise their refund.

I wasn't questioning the policy, merely that i didn't know about it and is this true (or is this something SE made up on the spot, which can happen).

Either way, that's fine. You don't know unless you ask :)

I don't think once a day is a formal policy, however there is a limit to how much you can claim for one day's delays as already pointed out.

They should have sent you an explanation as to how your compensation is worked out. Did you not get one?

No. The letter only apologises for delay, says that as i was delayed by more than 2 hours i get 100% of the cost of a return fare, states how much i get (£5.25) and the validity of the voucher. That's all.

If I'm delayed in the morning, I fill in a form for that delay during my lunch hour. If I'm then delayed on my way home, I claim for that delay in the evening at home. I've always received 2 vouchers (usually in separate envelopes posted at the same time (double postage costs)).

I do the same. I claim for each journey I'm delayed.

It's up to the TOC to administer their own scheme and figure out how much I'm due.

I presume that if your season is for a two part journey involving two TOCs, you can claim from both if both parts of the journey were late?

Also, I can see that there is a potential for fraud (using a season) if your journey has services provided by multiple TOCs in that you could claim from each of the TOCs despite only making the journey once.

I believe that you are supposed to claim Delay Repay for the whole journey from whichever TOC that caused the initial delay.

That said, the way that some TOCs only pay out on the leg of journey on their trains makes me think that claiming separately is not that unreasonable.

There is the potential for fraud with season tickets, yes, I agree.
