Lorry hits keighley & worth valley bridge

"A 40ft lorry has hit a railway bridge and overturned, blocking both sides of Park Lane in Keighley opposite The Globe pub.

It happened at 7.10am as the Volvo articulated lorry tried to pass under the bridge, spilling diesel. The 48-year-old driver was not hurt.

The bridge carries the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway steam trains and not main line services, said a police spokesman "

Looking on the Keighley & Worth Valley railway web site trains should be running as usual as there is no news feed about the incident.

The lorry was Not paying attention as on both sides of the bridge there is height Warning with bright yellow background and as well as that they are lit by a light

Services will be unaffected, Civils alerted this morning and bridge has been checked in due course. No problems with bridge just superficial damage. The lorry came off a lot worse.

this is the second bridge from keighley direction that has been hit i you don't count the footpath that goes underneath, between the two bridges. Good to hear all OK for train operations tomorrow.

The bridge you are referring to is on Low Mill Lane. That is where the old goods yard is as far as i am aware.

Aye, it's the one up to Long Lee. Problem is that they appear to have shut Parkwood, so your option is either dropping down to Oakworth Road or trying to go down Thwaites Brow. The only road where I have been overtaken by a goat and a few chickens going up it.
