As it says on the tin...

Also, by this I mean when you intentionally listen to it and not when you're forced to on TV or in shops etc.

Started last week when I put the christmas decorations up and some christmas music started to be played on various radio stations.

There's not an option for when they start coming on the telly/radio.

There are some that I enjoy when they do arrive though.

I've started hearing it about 10 days ago at work. So around 6 weeks of it now to suffer :(

If I had my way, Christmas music would be illegal before 20:00 Christmas Eve and after 23:59 Christmas Day. Preferably illegal all year round mind...

1st December. Work Christmas do is last Friday of November again, so there'll be a couple of days grace on it :P

I don't personally see the need to listen to the festive "drivel" the pop industry has produced over the years.

The classical stuff is fine from about the Sunday before Christmas itself.

Carols should only be sung from Christmas Eve though.

Put it on too early & it can get very annoying.

Well, to be honest, I'm not too bothered as to when the music is played, as long as it's not before hallowe'en — I won't actively put on Christmas music though until around the 14th when it's the end of term. Some songs I could listen to quite happily, but there are others which I hate.

I my sixth-form room we've decorated the place, which I nearly pulled a light over when trying to sling some tinsel between them. :)

Well I wish we had trains running every day
When the kids start singing and the band begins to play
Oh I wish we had trains running every day
So let the bells ring out for Christmas (train service)

Yes... it's nearly that time of year again. The time of discussing trains on Christmas Day!

I went with I don't as my only exposure to Christmas music is non-voluntary due to it being everywhere on TV/radio. But I wouldn't personally set out to listen to it.

Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
Never. I just ignore it, although sometimes that proves practically impossible, such as the last few months of 2011 where my laptop had given up the ghost a few momths earlier, I had to make do with the music channels, and I had a choice of Q and Kerrang only to avoid the stuff. And I don't listen to Kerrang very often, if at all. :|

As such, for Christmas Day itself, I just tend to listen to Britpop bands. Much, much better than that bloody Pogues song that's always on repeat.

I refuse to put it on myself, Frothmas gets on my nerves. Bring on 00:01 on Boxing Day when it's all over!

That said,Easter starts for us just after New Year...

I do like to listen to christmas tunes on the radio when I am out on deliveries certainly helps reduce the stress. My local Iceland store is gearing up to win £10,000 for the best christmas displays which the store at Port Talbot won last year of course if we win that money is spread equally among the staff and some to local charities.

Not being Christian, I don't see any need to listen to Christmas music. :P

I know. I'm not American, so I see no point in listening to Copland, Ives, Barber, Bernstein, etc, etc. :) :)

Seriously, being brought-up within the church, I was taught that Christmas begins properly at 3pm on Christmas Eve, with the Service of Nine Lessons from Kings College, Cambridge.

So I don't choose to listen to it until then, but have yet to find a way of stopping it being bombarded at me from all quarters from the end of November onwards!

1st December usually for me. Though I'm very selective with my taste. Things like the Alice Cooper Version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town, I Like Trains' version of Last Christmas (where they make it the song of misery that it is!), Type O Negative's Red Water, Annie Lennox Carols, Eisenfunk's Jinglefunk

Any Version of Santa Baby or Baby It's Cold Outside really annoys me though!

December the 1st, although it's usually started on the adverts before then. Little Drummer Boy came up on random on the pub jukebox the other week too :-x

I don't put it on until December the 1st, anyway, and I have that Bob Dylan christmas album for Xmas Day mornings

Seeing that our departmental Christmas meal is 4th Dec this year, I guess that would be the first time I hear it this year - a bit late by my usual standards.

After that I probably won't notice it until Christmas Eve as I try and block it out of my mind.

Generally as soon as someone, during the run-up to Xmas, does something to remind me of the existence of all my favourite Xmas songs from the 1980s.

I think you may have just qualified as that person...

1st December usually for Christmas music.

Although for various logistical reasons only, the tree has gone up this evening! And I'm insisting the lights stay turned off until the 1st.

+1. And some of us are required to rehearse and perform it during Advent.

I don't dislike (some) Christmas music, but I don't go out of my way to listen to it.
Of course the pop industry has brought out some pretty dire attempts at making christmas music, much of which is best forgotten.

I tend to turn to Christmas music a few days before the 25th: no more than a week beforehand, as a rule.

Also, my definition of Christmas music is a carol. I can't say I appreciate Christmas pop songs in the least.

The most terrible Christmas song in the world IMO.

agreed on that, Mariah Scary and that Macca one are the worst, plus the Destiny's Child * Days one from recent years (Materialistic sh*te, rather than just sh*te).

Best xmas songs, off the top of my head:

The Pogues - Fairytale of New York
Low - Just Like Christmas
The Blue Nile - Christmas Lights
