Does anyone know where I could find details of fares for Travelcard extension tickets (I can't see them on National Rail, Tfl, or any of the Trainline based sites). I am interested in Watford Jn-Travelcard boundary single, to upgrade a zone 1-D ticket, and am looking for full price, YP, and senior railcard fares.
Many thanks to anyone who can help
The ticket you ask for does not exist (you can only get the reverse of what you want, ie BZ6 to WFJ), and I am not sure exactly what you are trying to do, however this should clarify the options available for people wanting to get a travelcard in Watford (assuming travelling off-peak):-
From Watford:-
If you go to a NR ticket office, you can get a 1-D travelcard (I think it has to be issued from "Amersham" as that is the way to do it apparently) which covers the entire journey if you go from Watford (Met), this is £4.80 with a railcard. LU ticket offices will charge you full price, which I believe is £7.40. If you are going
from Watford, get this in advance! If going
to Watford you can get it at any NR station.
From Watford Junction:-
If going
from Watford Junction, then Zones A-D become irrelevant. The fare from Watford Junction is £12.50 (adult), £8.25 (railcard), and allows you to use fast trains, the first available is at 09:47 arriving 10:11 M-F (any at w/ends). If you can accept going on a slow train, the fare from WFJ to Hatch End is £3.10 (adult), £2.05 (railcard) (CDR -valid on or after 09:00 M-F) and a 1-6 travelcard from there (you can pick up the 09:47 from Harrow at 09:55) is £6.30 (adult), £4.80 (railcard).
If going
to Watford Junction and already in posession of a travelcard, then you may get a ticket from Boundary Zone 6, this is priced at £3.10 (adult), £2.05 (railcard) - the same fare from Hatch End but it allows use of fast trains.
