Wincobank

I was wondering if a problem would occur here and sure as eggs are eggs, it has occurred.

This station was opened on !st April 1868 as Wincobank then was renamed as Wincobank and Meadow Hall in July 1899 and renamed again as Wincobank in June 1951, but crucially this station site after closure in 1956 is was where the new station of Meadowhall was constructed .

Comparisons can be drawn to the closed station of Allerton and the new station of Liverpool South Parkway which was constructed on the site of the former railway station

I was uncertain whether Dore & Totley would qualify. Fair enough the station is still open on the Hope Valley route, however the platforms of the Midland Main Line were closed and demolished in the 1980s.

As ever, I am always willing to help with such queries and would draw your attention to the current situation prevailing at Carnforth, where the main line platforms are closed, but the same railway station is open for other services on the other platforms. This therefore decrees that both Dore & Totley and Carnforth are classified as OPEN stations on this particular quiz.

We were now on the line of the Midland Main Line, having left the line of the Sheffield and Rotherham Railway.

Stretton railway station was situated on the North Midland Railway on its route southwards to Derby.

On the Midland Main Line, the next station after Clay Cross on the Erewash Valley Line would be Doe Hill

Ah, if we're going via the Erewash Valley, then it will be:-

Well i've managed to find where we are again... It would've helped if the original preamble to this journey made reference to using the Erewash Valley route and not via Derby.

The last two lines to be accessed on this particular quiz according to the preamble are:-
The Midland Counties Railway....which we have just joined at Kegworth
The Rugby and Stamford Railway

Leicester Campbell Street

though the description of where it is doesn't really make it on a separate site to the current open station
