It features different staff on both sides. Superb work on the Vinyls. It it didn't have the Sky Logos It would be a superb livery for East Coasts Fleet.

I wonder if the Sky logos are removable with that intention in mind?

Many vinyl liveries still have some bits stuck on top (like TOC logos/names).

Today the train has been on a promotional trip between Leeds, Doncaster, York, Newcastle and Berwick.

Here is the train at York this morning:

I've been told by a fairly reliable source at East Coast that the Power Car and DVT will remain in the blue livery with the SKY1HD being removed, however the coaches will return to their normal silver livery.

The livery will be with us until just before the last episode.

They should remove the Sky 1 logo and then put on the Sky 2 logo for when it gets repeated, then Pick TV in a few years when it's on Freeview.

And, of course, if the trains are still in service in 2090, they can change the logo to Dave.

You have tried that joke once - it was funny then, now it is tired ;)

Am I the only person who has issues with East Coast being in bed with a Murdoch company considering the recent alleged legal unpleasantness suffered by other Murdoch media companies – it doesn’t seem quite right to me.

So basically you are all happy to overlook the alleged slightly dodgy history of this group of companies because they have made a train programme and paid to have a train painted a nice colour and fitted with fancy stickers.

Sky aren't making the TV programme (it's made by Cineflix). Although yes, they did pay for the advert.

I personally could not care any less if I tried. If I wasted time evaluating the ethics and standards of every company I dealt with and bought products from my life would be very dull. About as dull as this paragraph I've just written.

Saw the set the other night...though in the dark it wasn't the best light to apreciate it.

How long before the set gets split and a.n.other Cl.91 stuck on the front?

With the Skyfall set East Coast went to great lengths to keep the 91 and the set together and managed to do so very well indeed. I would have thought they'll achieve the same thing here.

They did, around 2 months I think it was. 91117 ended up on the Skyfall mk4's towards the end though.

Quite like to see 101 or 110 end up on the Sky set, that'd be a bright combo

So i am the only one bothered - OK - i will leave you all to your ethics free zone.

What Next - Virgin trains and Dow Chemicals? Cross Country & Exxon?

If it means that much to you, boycott EC by all means.

I've voted with my feet/wallet over the years, even though other people have thought I was mad.

You obviously missed my post above. Sadly, a lack of ethics is not limited to the Murdoch empire so you have to be a little more pragmatic. I do however congratulate you on making a stand, so to speak, the reason why standards and ethics seem so low these days is because others 'can't be bothered'. To be honest, my biggest gripe with Sky is that it just feels 'chavvy'.

By the way, I'm largely agreeing with you, so please don't get sparky again!

Yes, I saw it calling at Stevenage this morning - the 07:28 to York
I was on a FCC service calling at platform 1 so only saw the front & back of the train properly.

Yes, it would seem you are. What a shame. Mind you arent cross country powered by fuel from a big oil company like Exxon? Where does the leccy come from that powers Virgin trains too? Big power companies maybe?

Christ at this rate you wont be able to travel by train, car or bus unless you get a solar powered thing.

So how are your ethics then? Are you strictly a raw food, walk everywhere person? Seems strange you mention ethics yet have an interest in the railways which consume vast amounts of everything you seem to cry about.

I bet solar panels use certain materials that might well upset some people!

And assuming most people wear clothes, I don't even know where to begin on how you're probably wearing things that have been produced in a factory that breaks any number of laws (as regularly exposed - even those that the retailers will claim are regularly inspected etc).

I've made my own small protests. I stopped shopping at Tesco (although I still buy fuel there) a few years ago, as my own protest at how they treated suppliers - and even how they treated us (as in the company I worked for at the time).

I also stopped flying Ryanair as I thought Michael O'Leary had gone too far.

Both companies, I was pleased to notice, have suffered in different ways since - so I put that all down to my actions. :D

We should probably just boycott everything in protest.. Even whatever powers your usage of the internet and the plastics(made from oil, maybe oil from exxon) that house your computer and its components.

I am thoroughly outraged that you havent done so already jonmorris. OUTRAGED.

Given I'm using an iMac right now, and Apple hasn't (or certainly didn't when it made my computer) got a very good reputation, I guess I should be chucking it out of the window.

And all those trendy hipsters that like to talk about the environment, and buying fairtrade coffee etc, should probably destroy their iPhones and iPads immediately (and, obviously, safely recover the precious metals inside).

Ahh yes, that modern irony.

'Yah, I only drink fairtrade ethically sourced coffee, but I simply cannot live without my iPhone/pad'

I am simply pointing out that it is, to me at least, distasteful that what is an essentially government operation should be in bed with a company with such allegedly questionable ethics. Perhaps I am the only one who takes issue with, it has been suggested, employees or agents of the parent company hacking the phone of a dead school girl (amongst others). I don’t think the government should be providing a veil of respectability for such people.

However, I seem to be the only person bothered by it. It must be nice for the PR & marketing people of these companies to know that they can do, essentially, whatever they like and the sheep will still lap it up.

Ironically, it was only when they did this that people suddenly got outraged. I bet most people thought celebrities and MPs were fair game before that, and wouldn't have cared about someone listening to a few voicemails to determine whether a tip off about a scoop was accurate.

There's no evidence they deleted any voicemails (they are deleted after a set time automatically) so the whole thing about the removed messages giving the family false hope is in itself false.

But, nevertheless, the hacking is still something that will almost certainly send a few more people to jail. It would be naive to think that something so incredibly simple as listening to voicemails (when at the time most, if not all, networks set up voicemail accounts with a default PIN and no requirement to change it, or set up your own PIN from scratch) wasn't being done by every paper.

In fact, I think we'll soon discover that this practice - both by journalists and people paid to do it (in order to hide it) brings just about every paper into the dock.

Journalists have always broken rules to get stories, and - as I said before - people didn't have a problem when it was exposing corporate corruption, MP scandals and celebrity gossip. I suspect that even now, most people would consider it okay to spy or hack certain people, and have their own skewed scale on who is fair game and who isn't.
