I have just booked two First Class Advances, and somehow made the mistake of selecting 'Ticket on Departure at Station,' as opposed to home delivery.

I am supposed to pick them up at Stevenage.

The system states I need my card and the 'ticket booking reference.' Is this just the same thing as the 'Booking Reference' I have been given in the email?

Second of all, and bear with me here, how do I pick them up? Go to the office? Go to a machine? Get in on the day? I've booked plenty of tickets through East Coast before, but I've never made this mistake.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Don't worry, its really quite easy :)

The reference you need will be in the email they sent you. It'll look at bit like this: HF84MD8X

Go to a ticket machine at the station, press Collect Prepaid Tickets or similar on the screen. Then insert the card that you booked with online. Remove your card and enter the booking reference into the machine and it will print your tickets.

You should not go to the booking office unless you experience technical difficulties with the machine.
The ticket machine will not charge your card again - it just uses checks the card is the same as you booked with as proof of identity.

You can collect the tickets at any time from 2 hours after you book the tickets (less for some booking websites*), right up until the time of travel. This is useful if you think there may be queues for the machines on the day

Thanks for this Martin, I will be in Stevenage tomorrow (should the GN be back up and running) so I will get them then. :)

I forgot to mention - you can collect from any station that has the facility to collect prepaid tickets. It does not have to be the one you specified when booking online as long as it's one that was in the list of choices, so you could collect them at Newcastle, Kings Cross or elsewhere if you wished.

Thank you - I picked them up yesterday.
