Hi all,

new to this forum lark. I'm into Class 350 units, do them for haulage and mileage etc. After info regarding 350103, anyone know when she will be back in service when TP have finished with their familiarisation. Cheers.

Thanks for the info, had forgotten about 350252 on driver training runs.
There's a picture of one of the driving ends of 350103 on the back of a lorry heading up the M6 taken in July. I was told it was heading to Shields Rd, must have been given some dud gen.

Depends exactly who/where has the appropriate repair equipment and/or skills. A number of SWT's damaged Desiro units have generally been repaired up there as well.

and have you considered that the cost of shipping it to Kilmarnock ( not Shields) is still less than having Wolverton do the work? Or that Wolverton may not have had the required skills or workshop space to do the work. Didn't think so.

I believe they had a rammed order book didn't they? (agreeing with you)

The cost of sending a train anywhere in the country is minuscule. Whoever owned the loco will pay track access plus fuel/electricity charges plus a day's wages for staff, can't see that being much more than a few thousand pounds, and what they bill the TOC won't be very much more.

Its been the norm for many years.. atleast the last 10 years iirc for units to move up to Kilmarnock for collision repairs. They used to be (may still be) specialists at that sort of work...

it is actually cheaper (often) to send it by lorry!

Adding - only 350/1s. And they're locked out of use.

In that case I wouldn't be surprised if they are removed at the first/next proper (major) refurbishment... can't see the TOC or DfT wanting wasted space where seats could be fitted

exactly - you could fit another bay of 4 seats into that space

Where is the locked guard's office on 350/1s? I travelled on them regularly and never noticed.

Its the frosted glass cupboard next to first class. It was never actually fitted out as a guards office even on the 350/1s, it was a trolley storage area.

Not my video

Why are the 350/4s being introduced in their base livery? Is it easier for FTPE to apply the liveries over here?
