Hi All,

I am trying to work out the validity of an SVR Off Peak Return from Crawley (CRW) to Birmingham (BHM). Routeing is Any Permitted and the restriction code is 9I.

I am looking to travel northbound this Friday afternoon/evening, and southbound on Saturday, but I am confused by the Friday validity.

The Southern ticketing website claims no journey after the 1259 from CRW is valid...

However, from what I can glean, if I were to take a route CRW-Victoria (Southern) then Euston-BHM (Virgin), I should be able to travel as far as Victoria on any train in the afternoon, but the first Virgin train I can take from Euston would be whatever the first train after 1845 is. Hence, I should be able to take a train from CRW at around 2pm, then stick around in London until the later Virgin train - which works for me.

Can anyone see anything wrong/untoward about this proposal? I assume I can't check it on a booking website because I can't find one that will let me put in a 6 hour change!

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

Your interpretation is correct - it's only the train you get from Euston to Birmingham International which is restricted. Break of Journey is allowed on both portions so you are simply breaking your journey in London.

Lovely, thanks for confirming that :) I always think there's a little bit I've missed, especially with such a complicated restriction code!
