None of these companies are particularly easy to get into for beginners to the industry, with the difficulty increasing progressively as you move down my list.
Virgin, Colas Rail, GBRf, Cross Country, Northern and WCR also operate in and out of Crewe; but none of these have a train crew signing on point here.
Also consider any "Driver Operator" / "MDD" positions which may come up at the various Traction Maintenance Depots and yards in and around Crewe.
If you really are desperate and can bear commuting 30+ miles or so from Crewe then you could always target Northern at Manchester Picc & Vic they are the TOC that is usually recruiting in large numbers these days and probably will be for some time.
