Does Holmes chord in Rotherham ever see loco hauled trains?

Or has it ever? Or passenger trains other than local dmus?

Has a charter train ever used it? Or do freights use it?

Anyone got pictures of the above (if any ever happened that is!)

It may have seen loco hauled on diversions earlier on VXC's life. Voyagers use it on diversions i have used it. Freight i doubt due to no need and the curvature and gradient of the line.

I think there is 1 XC service a day in each direction for route knowlodge purposes, other than that, I can't think of any other passenger services going via Holmes Chord barring the local services and the odd TPE which is booked to call at Rotherham Central.

freight does use it, it is a load of rubbish that the curve is too tight. a freight used it the other week to access booths and clear the main line. other schedueled freight too, sometimes 6L16 from new site early morning.

I'd have thought every last stretch of rail in the country gets engineers trains occasionally and test trains slightly more often (which makes me curious as to how often they send a test train to Looe, and if they use a loco hauled one or always send 950001?)
