Hi all on railforum hopefully this will be a intresting thread, I recently attended the stage 1 assessment and if not already read I failed on the MP4.1 now my question is very confusing I got good pass on GBT, and also good passes on TRP Parts 1+2, now we all know the mechanical test is being made obsolete in the near future therefore I can't see how me applying for any driver roles in the next 6 months would be of a advantage to myself as all test being kept as part of assessment were passed well, any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated as there are people on here with a lot better understanding than myself thanks for your time looking:roll:

I don't really understand what you are asking, but I will have a go anyway. As you have failed the MT4.1 this will count as an assessment fail which renders you unable to apply for any Trainee Driver Roles for 6 months.

Equally confused by the OP but to clarify the following:

Not quite - it renders you unable to retake this assessment for six months. You could still apply for a job with another company (or possibly FTPE).* The length of time it takes for potential recruits to even get to assessment from application stage can be more than this. Though I agree some TOCs will include a question in the application form as to whether you have sat the assessments within the last six months.

*Some companies do not allow you to re-apply for the same job within six months if unsuccessful. Northern is one that enforce this. I do not know if FTPE do though.

It's fine m8 thanks for reply I cleared this up today with HR at northern and understood were I was coming from regarding the failed part of assessment, also said to continue and don't do anything rash ie applying for conductor positions as this would then mean I wouldn't be able to apply once in TOC for a while, and there are positions coming up all through 2014
I heard her colleague telling her that I had applied for conductor lol, nice lady and took advise on board, I'm currently a met driver in Manchester and enjoy by job so there is no rush
