London St Pancras / London Terminals

Hi

I commute from Haywards Heath everyday using southern services to and from london bridge.

I see I can renew my season ticket (annual gold) with a ticket to london st pancras which is any permitted and not just fcc.

Could I use this ticket to lbg with southern with no issues?

Also if I wanted to go to Victoria as a one off what ticket would I need to buy.

Firstly, the ticket to St Pancras will be routed 'Not Underground', now whilst this may not affect which train companies you can use it may affect the routes you can take.

Going straight to London Bridge is fine, no problems there.

I personally would say that there is a route to St Pancras via Clapham Junction and that if you wanted to go to Victoria you should buy a single or return from Clapham Junction to Victoria. With your Haywards Heath-St Pancras season ticket, the train will not need to call at Clapham (though most will) and you should have no trouble getting out at Victoria.

It is valid Haywards Heath - Three Bridges - Croydon Group - Streatham Group - Clapham Junction - Waterloo - Waterloo East - London Bridge - Blackfriars - St Pancras, so valid for stopping short at Clapham Junction.

The Routeing Guide is here. Three Bridges is an appropriate routeing point for Haywards Heath for this journey. Three Bridges - London Group is valid on map LB, and the route above can be traced on map LB without any doubleback.

Clapham would be over 200 miles further than the limits of your ticket. Clapham Junction, however, would be permitted.

Is it also valid to Waterloo then looking at the routing guide? I assume not Charing Cross or Cannon Street?

My bold. Charing Cross and Cannon Street would be off-route.

Also is the ticket valid on gatwick express? If I brought a single or return from clapham to Victoria would I be covered under NRCOC 19c?

I don't think a ticket from Clapham (CPY) to London Terminals is valid on the Gatwick Express, irrespective of what you combine with it. The appropriate London terminals for Clapham are Kings Cross, St Pancras Int, Euston, and perhaps Marylebone, Liverpool Street, Moorgate, Paddington, and Old Street. Unless there is validity down the west London line...

I see the routing guide has been updated today and it appears I would have to buy a ticket from east croydon now or streatham?

Yes it does appear to have been invalidated, albeit if the route planner worked with multiple via points, you might be able to get it under the shortest route.

You are allowed (under the NRCoC) to use:
1. Through trains
2. Trains travelling on the shortest route by rail
3. Routes shown in the Routeing Guide (aka NRE)

I think soil is saying that the route via CJ and Waterloo may be the shortest route; NRE tends to ignore "via" points you specify if there's a much quicker route, so you (well, I) can't get it to show this route.

Right :) So for example, if i was going to Blackfriars, it maybe quciker to via CJ, Waterloo.

I do not think that would really hold up would it against guard?

Do not think that is possible, just to confirm then if I did need to go to Vic or Waterloo just buy a ticket from streatham?

You could buy a ticket from Herne Hill instead. Herne Hill - London is valid via Streatham and is cheaper than Streatham - London.
