Morning all.

Just been out doing some work at Church Fenton and between (roughly) 1am and 4am (1st October 2013), two grey GBRF 66s went past heading towards York. Don't suppose anyone would be able to identify them for me? Would be great help.

Cheers

Luke

They would have been two of 66747-749, locomotives that were imported from Holland last December. There are no longer any Fastline liveried 66s.
Can't be certain but it looks as though 66748 and 66749 were the locos as both are on Tyne Dock-Drax workings, could anyone confirm.

All the ex Fastline 66s were later incorporated into the DRS Fleet and are now in DRS's livery, albeit 434 (which was a DRS 'on loan' loco) I think retains its black roof.

I did mean the ones from Holland. Difficult to see numbers when they fly past you and you have very little light.

66749 Drax/Tyne Dock

So am I to gather that the first 66 I saw was 66749 and was heading to Tyne and by the time 6am came it had turned round and started coming back. The second one I saw was 66748 and heading to Tyne and that arrived after 6am. Correct?

I know it does but doesn't list what was working it?

True, but if you can get access to a TOPS list showing locos & headcodes, you can correlate realtime times & working timetable headcodes / booked times, and this can often help you to identify which trains you probably saw.

WTTs (including freight) can be downloaded from:

http://www.networkrail.co.uk/browseDirectory.aspx?dir=\Timetables\Working timetable (WTT)&root=

If you are likely to have regular interest in TOPS lists, etc., there are various "gen" groups that offer useful infornation about freight workings, sometimes with TOPS lists - some free, others need a paid subscription.
