1) I was on a lovely southern 377 this evening clearly recently refurbished 2+2 seating throughout it was bliss. Rather like the 2+2 seating on a virgin voyager when you think hang on... these arn't bad units! I noticed the wall panel was painted light blue but on most of the ex connex spec units it is dark blue. All southern spec (2+2 end cars, 3+2 centre cars) appear to be light blue. Why is this? Someone told me they got the colour wrong?

2) Do FGW 166s have carpets throughout and what about FGW 165s?

An informed source tells me the turbos will replace 158s on the portsmouth line in the near future

As an aside the XC Voyager interal doors seem very dangerous as they shut on people. Surprised this has not been addressed (that and the stench of sewage)

Does XC have an accident log??

How much is it to install air freshener?

166s are carpeted throughout, 165s have no carpet. Turbos will move to the Bristol area when they are displaced by electrification, but it hasn't been confirmed on what routes they'll operate yet.

Facilities on the Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore)

Lemon scented air fresheners were initially added to the airconiditioning systems in trains. They have since been removed.

Seems as though it didn't work!!!

In view of the thread on the LM refurbishments and I am sure I have mentioned the refurb on the Class 171s operated by Southern Govia are spending a lot on refurbs currently.

Unless there is good ventilation, it won't work. You just end up with lemon scent on top of toilet smells. Yuk!

was on a xc voyager this morning and the smell was overwhelming made me want to puke. It was so early on in the day so I presume the smell never goes away!!

The call for aid next to the disabled seat was also covered in thick dust!

There were lots of under carriage clunking noises too

So that's actually 5 Questions and some stale info from an 'informed source' who knows something that has been in the public domain since about 2006, when it was to be found in the SWML route business plan:

First Great Western are considering the deployment
of class 165/166 units on the Cardiff to Portsmouth
route, for which there may need to be some gauge
clearance works.

Sorry I am adding to this thread rather than starting a new one...

What is the grill for above the luggage rack on an xc voyager... heating?
Am I right leg room varies and some seats have less where more have been crammed in?
What is the use of the underseat poles surely not leg rests?
I also note certain headphone controls have been removed

Perhaps you were on a brand new 377/6 ?.

Air fresheners - ugh. When I smell an artificial flower smell I instantly know there is something nasty lurking. Air fresheners only work by masking the bad smell with a stronger artificial smell. Just smells cheap and tacky. Better to solve the original problem rather than masking it. I am a non smoker but I know smokers miss smells (and tastes). I bet even a heavy smoker can smell a Voyager pong though .

Maybe they should fit the trains with fabreze dispensers then?

Another question
I thought all trains had to have different flooring between coach and vestibule but refurbished fgw 150/1s and 165s don't?
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Also there are dusty rubbish filled gaps along the sides between the seats on my refurbished 150/1

Not all seats have the same legroom, on FGW 158s the first row of seats has more room than most of the others, not sure why.
I always thought it was the same idea as the priority seating on Southern's 377s, extra leg room for elderly/pregant/etc people.
