Mallard at Doncaster 14/15th Sept

Mallard will be on display at Freightliner Ltd’s Railport depot on 14 and 15 September and entry will be free. On top of Freightliner agreeing to host the event, a Freightliner locomotive will be bringing Mallard in to the depot. The news comes hot on the heels of Freightliner winning a major new contract from the Port of Felixstowe. There will be stalls and also a chance to see live demonstrations of Freightliner’s working service.

Does anyone know the arrangements for Mallards arrival on the Saturday. I presume that it will be a FL class 66 or 70 bringing her in. I did a quick search on RTT, but can't see any moves that might account for this.
Any info from anyone 'in the know' would be much appreciated !

Though I've seen some press thing for this Saturday suggesting it's KOYLI not RHF that's the Deltic thats going to be there with the Mallard

looking on RTT there's something leaving at 1pm today to Barrow Hill as well, described as "diesel locomotive", but looking ahead til Saturday there's nothing else leaving Doncaster Works or Barrow Hill LIP yet.

A unique evening and possibly the last chance ever to see Mallard back in the historic Doncaster Plant Works where she was built in 1938, along with all the other A4 locomotives.

Wabtec, who now operates from the Doncaster Plant Works, has very kindly allowed access to a lucky 100 ticketed guests only and will host a special viewing of Mallard. Absolutely no admittance without ticket! Local dignitaries will be present, and we will also be joined by Tim Godfrey, grandson of Sir Nigel Gresley, to welcome Mallard back to the place where she was built.

Visitors will see Mallard emerge from the original Erecting Shop, the actual building where she was built 75 years ago, as if reborn! There will be opportunities for photographs with the unique back-drop of the Plant Works and hopefully an opportunity to step onto the footplate.'

I hope some of this event will be viewable from Doncaster station, as I'm on the 14.16 to Kings Cross on Weds. I'll be keeping an eye out for it.

No, I didn't see either of them when I caught the 14.16 to Kings Cross. I'm looking forward to Saturday though, it should be interesting seeing them in the FL yard.

I don't think there are any plans for other loco's at this event, other than the Deltic mentioned above, and the FL loco (unknown) bringing Mallard in.

Popped down yesterday, thought the crowd would've been bigger but with only 2 trains, a couple of fairground rides/food, a Mallard shoppy tent thing with some model trains for sale (£75 upwards, when I were a lad it were all £20-£30!) and a beer stall (Doncaster Brewery, had Sir Nigel but there were 3 others I've had before, good beer) there wasn't much to do really.

Long queue for The Mallard cab view so I didn't bother going in, and a few people taking interest in the Deltic on their way to the queue.

There were a couple of 66's down the top end of the yard and some containers being moved around, which was interesting to watch. Had a quick look at the Network Rail yard on the walk back to town too, not much going on at the time.

It was good to see Mallard and 55019 in a different setting. It's great that Freightliner put this on for free, but I am surprised they didn't shine up one of their locos and place it prominently (for publicity)!

Yes it was nice, & getting on the footplate was good too. In the hour I was waiting to climb aboard, a FL 66 arrived with a container train & departed light engine, all very interesting.
I believe the Deltic is moving Mallard out go Barrow Hill on Tues morning, around 11am

Just been at Doncaster from 11.45 to 12. 30 and it didn't run, so I presume it's still at Wabtec.

Looking at RTT, it appears the train is running, but over 2 hours late.
