Hi All,

For some reason, the forum on my computer has switched into a ridiculously small font, and I can't find a way in any of the user cp options to change it back. This hasn't happened on any other websites on my computer, and the forum seems to look as normal on my mobile phone.

Does anyone know haw to get back to normal size on an ordinary laptop ?

Yours,

Baffled

Thanks Transportphoto, I've given it a go, but sadly hasn't done the trick.

Try checking the zoom - Ctrl and + or - should change it and see if that resolves it

On this laptop if my finger strays from the left button onto the adjacent bit of the touchpad while I am using the touchpad with another finger, the computer interprets it as a zoom gesture.

Possibly holding down the Ctrl key while scrolling up and down pages by accident did it? :P

Yeah, the wheel on the mouse - see it happen regularly.

Sounds like you have a multi-touch pad - some of the newer laptops have them (keeping up with Apple I guess). Works very similar to using a phone

Whilst this thread relates to a technical query on the forum, can I ask if a past problem of forum inaccessability for a short period of time at 0200 hours occasionally has now been remedied.

I believe that was something to do with a backup of the site been taken...not sure if it still occurs though as I'm now rarely on the forum so late

I think it does, you get a 'Database error' accompanied by the Vbulletin logo.

Perhaps I should go and you know, get a life now.

This is due to the way MySQL works. In order to guarantee that a backup of the database is a consistent snapshot and not corrupt, you have to lock the tables. This means no data can be written by vBulletin whilst the tables are being backed up.

Not necessarily. If you use InnoDB tables (and you should be these days) you can use the --single-transaction option to get a consistent snapshot without locking.

(I use "you" in the figurative sense, I know the forum db is not yours!).
