Highland Chieftain diversion today (15/09/13)

Can someone tell me why it was diverted via Ladybank as I saw it pass me at Bridge Of Earn.

No trains will run between Larbert and Perth (via Stirling). Buses will replace trains between Larbert and Perth (via Stirling) all weekend.
East Coast
Trains to / from Inverness will be diverted not calling at Falkirk Grahamston, Stirling or Gleneagles. Replacement buses will run between Edinburgh, Falkirk Grahamston, Stirling, Gleneagles and Perth. On Saturday, trains will call additionally at Inverkeithing and Kirkcaldy

Isn't this weekend when a significant part of the resignalling of Stirling is taking place?
(The old semaphore signalling is to be replaced this year).

Stirling is completely shut for the next 3 weekends for remodelling and re signalling.

Amongst other things, the Alloa line junction is being converted to double lead, all the semaphores signals replaced and the Stirling Middle lever frame relocked.

The bridge over the station into Riverside is being demolished and replaced (that's a long term project) and the Causewayhead Road bridge is also being replaced - the new bridge is being prepared for jacking/lifting into place.

I was about to say surely not, since it's not long opened and was billed as an "icon".

But I realise you're meaning the bridge carrying Shore Road and not the new pedestrian bridge (although given that the Forthside development seems to have stalled somewhat, white elephant springs to mind).

Unfortunately, we are stuck with the monstrosity that is the Forthside bridge
