I'm on A SWT fast to Waterloo, just stopped at Southampton Central. There's a film crew on platform 2a, just packing up. Didn't see any kind of ID badges on their equipment so couldn't identify if they were BBC, ITV, etc. Anyone got any ideas what or who they were filming?

BBC are not filiming a second mainline railway series perhaps?

Either that or SWT have decided to copy FGW and LUL and commision their own series

Or could have been some footage for local news...

Nothing of the sort on tonight's South Today or Meridian. Of course it could just be generic stock footage to roll out for the next rail-related report.

True, BBC South's building is just above the tunnel / up the road from Southampton Central. Doesn't necessarily mean any filming could be broadcast today though.

It could even be a small film company packing up from some filming too - passed a either a small film company or a university group doing some late night filming for a small film outside Waterloo station earlier this year, can't remember what the film was called though!

And their old building was the LSWR's head office at Southampton Terminus.

Meridian's old studio is right next to the Siemens depot in Northam, although they've since decamped to Whiteley (which makes their local station Swanwick).

Looks like it was a BBC South Today article that was being filmed - By the looks of it to do with Station Lighting going 'green'.*

*Not that kind of green, Energy efficient green.
