Hi all,

Copy & Pasted from www.nationalrail.co.uk ; I don't know how to use the codeing thing to get a proper table below, similar to the quote sytem.

This alteration to the timetable is due to "a shortage of train carriages."

The following reduced timetable will operate on Merseyrail services:

Northern Line

Services between Southport and Hunts Cross will depart at xx:28 and xx:58 past the hour

Services between Hunts Cross and Southport will depart at xx:06 and xx:36 past the hour

Services between Ormskirk and Liverpool will depart at xx:20 and xx:40 past the hour

Services between Liverpool Central and Ormskirk will depart at xx:10 and xx:40 past the hour

Services between Kirkby and Liverpool will depart at xx:18 and xx:48 past the hour

Services between Liverpool Central and Kirkby will depart at xx:25 and xx:55 past the hour

Wirral Line

All services will start/terminate at James Street

Services between West Kirby and Liverpool will depart at xx:01 and xx:31 past the hour

Services between Liverpool and West Kirby will depart at xx:07 and xx:37 past the hour

Services between New Brighton and Liverpool will depart at xx:23 and xx:53 past the hour

Services between Liverpool and New Brighton will depart at xx:22 and xx:52 past the hour

Services between Chester and Liverpool will depart at xx:15 and xx:45 past the hour

Services between Liverpool and Chester will depart at xx:02 and xx:32 past the hour

Services between Ellesmere Port and Liverpool will depart at xx:04 and xx:34 past the hour

Services between Liverpool and Ellesmere Port will depart at xx:17 and xx:47 past the hour

Don't suppose this has anything to do with the fact that Class 507s and 508s are useless?

They're ALOT nicer than the London Underground stock i've been on to/from Oxford Circus in the past..

Things to add to what/why I hate about London:

1) VERY busy
2) It's hard to get around somewhere without walking into someone
3) London Underground maybe a very good system, but I hate using it, due to the VERY hot, cramped conditions- a.k.a cattle class. (And that was mostly off peak as well, when alot of people, including myself, had a seat!)

The Liverpool 507/508's are even better, now that they've been refreshed, and the automatic PA sytem, with scrolling screen, is a very good feature.

It's still a VERY poor do however, if a TOC can't provide enough carriages on it's own network.

Imagine VXC doing that (oops they allready do! :P) , and reducing the frequency of their services in half...

Or even FGW.....

Oh, silly me- They allready have very little carriages!!

Merseyrail asked EWS at Allerton to help out with the repairs but they said no! Probably revenge for abandoning their facilities in the first place! Doesn't help that Merseyrail need at least 45 units a day, and theres at least 20 out of service needing repairs, 3 at Crewe Works/IEMD and they need spares aswell!

heads going round in circles comes to mind, prehaps instead of going around in circles, they banged heads then they might apply some flange lubricator to the rail.

Hi all,

I've just read the forthcoming issue of RAIL magazine (574), and an article about the Mersey Rail problems "Mersey Mayhem" states that the problem is thought to be caused by trackside lubricators, and all 111 of them which are fitted around the Liverpool loop will either be refurbished, or replaced.

An August 28, EMUs out of service were:-

507001/003/004/008/010/013-015/017/019-021/023/024/026/029/033,
508108/112/120/123/131/141.

Would you prefer it if they had 2 + 2 table seats throughout :???:

Not at all, but my main complaint, is the VERY hot, uncomfortable conditions.

Not really avoidable in cast iron tunnels about 30ft below the surface with lots of people creating excess body heat, is it?

...which was built probably about 100 years after the Tube?

try the Jubilee Line it is quite cool and pleasant because it is modern and built less than a decade ago. Parts of the Northern line celebrated its centenary this year with other parts first opening in 1890!
