"Alan, would you like your weak lemon drink now, or later? ANSWER ME!"

Absolutely brilliant engine loved by all of the crews who have worked it. As to its condition for the gala, I'm not sure.

Interesting 'finish' and gets my approval. I get an identical appearance on my vans by using normal 'traffic-film remover' and then forgetting to wash/rinse it off before it dries out in sun ..... or falling asleep while having a John Smiths Bitter.
Dont follow the Edmund Blackadder theme though ...... ??? Black 5isms .... very thin IMHO but never-the-less great set of photos. Thanks 4 posting.

I believe it arrived at the NNR in this condition from the Llangollen after their 1960's Gala.. though crews and volunteers have added their own comments (such as the WLD example above).

I do recognise the caption of the album though, I think I wrote that! If you do copy and paste from a website, please give credit ;) Though I don't mind on this occasion!

Maybe showing my ignorance, but what is behind that quote? :D

Your the first person to notice and/or comment on the Black Adder.... it's from when I first setup my Flickr account...seemed witty at the time... times change!

Black 5isms - "In" Joke - quiet right, not that funny - I'll edited the set name.

Thanks TP - Your quiet right! I'll edit the Set description to reflect that.

Thanks all for your feedback, most welcome. I've yet to master taking photos when the sky is just a white-out with cloud, so not my best work, but another enjoyable day just bumming around the NNR

A white out sky requires either a graduated grey filter or a blue filter, both work fine. Turn it until dark bit at TDC and it will under-expose bt 1-F stop and give a bit more definition to a grey sky. Works on video as well as still's.
The blue filter does a bit of both and gives more blue to the top half or get photoshop!!

Thanks teaboy. I've got a cheap 'dark glasses filter which helps a bit. I used the blue filter which had a strong blue at the top then grades down too clear...however the steam looked a bit blue too me....

I'm not much of a photographer.... just an idiot with an oversize toy!!!!

I rather like that, certainly adds a bit of variety and a welcome change from (albeit very nice) gleaming locos. And, of course, a very significant period which probably deserved greater recognition.
