Thanks. Class 67 with a DVT is a great combination indeed!

I assume the 67's will be EWS. Does that mean a specific pool of EWS loco's dedicated to this service. In the event of a 'dead' W&S liveried 67, will EWS sub in a maroon and gold one?

Depends how it works with the multiple working - they could modify the 67s or the DVTs. If it's the 67s then there would have to be a dedicated pool of locos....

Which ever way they go about it, it is going to create a dedicate pool. It all depends on which is the lesser of the 2 evils .....

Option 1 - Rewire the carriages and DVTs so they can operate with class 67s

Option 2 - Add TDM equipment to class 67s

Personally, I think EWS should look at option 2 for all their 67s, as this makes them more useful. For instance, if either VWC or VXC need a loco in a hurry because something has failed and no thunderbird is nearby, and they have a rake of carriages ready, all they have to do is agree on the hire cost. They could also be used on VXC Summer Saturday service vice HST.

They're planning to run services with 3-coaches... almost as bad as most Chiltern services!

Nathan only thinks its a waste of time because its set down on the way to London at Banbury and pick up on the way back.

I think the grey colour scheme will get dirty. But its good to have a more loco hauled services.

Karl :)

Hopefully if all goes well, though, we can look forward to newer trains failing every second day.

You must be joking! Three coaches?! They show a buffet car so it's going to be Standard + Buffet + First?!

Potentially, it could be similar to a 170, with very little FC seating located at the very front/rear of a carriage with either waiter service for the buffet or a long walk.

Very true 'me123', but not a long walk if the train is only 3 coaches long

I often travel First Class :(

The only experience I have of First Class is FSR Aberdeen trains, and for most people SC is very comfortable on a 170, and of course there's very little FC space.

Of course, on Virgin Pendos, FC is a desirable option for the food I have been told, but that's a different story altogether.

First class on a HST or Anglia 90 + Mk3 + DVT is very comfortable, only experience on first class for me

Interesting idea. I didn't realise there was so much demand for direct services from Wrexham though. Does the line diagram show all stops? I'd have thought more stops in the West Mids would be worth considering...

And more stops in the West midlands would have VWC up in arms, not to mention LM.

A lot of people is the cheshire area/wiraal who currently have to catch a local train and change at manchester, liverpool or crewe may be tempted by the deal - 'quieter' trains, direct journeys, good service.
