As a student (actually I'm going to have to stop saying that now I've graduated) this seems like perfectly normal behaviour.

It's probably a bad thing that the delivery guys of Domino's nearest to campus all know the access code to the computer rooms.

Used to be quite a common occurrence in the days of Mail by Rail including the House Wong in Exeter. Just ring in with your order (usually on the Penzance to Bristol TPO), give them the arrival time. As soon as your in Exeter, quick run down the road to pay for and pick up the takeaway (or just get someone else to pick it up!) and off you go.

At the Bo'ness diesel gala a couple of weeks ago on the Friday evening some of the SRPS guys were asking everybody on the train if they wanted to order food from the local takeaway. When the train got back to Bo'ness there was a pizza delivery bloke waiting with about 50 pizzas.

In the pre-barrier days at Aberdeen during an HML Engineering blockade I was on-board a double 170 on an Inverness to Edinburgh service that got badly delayed at Huntley and I decided to ring ahead to the Union Street Burger King, place an order which I had collected by taxi, the driver of which dropped it to the train when it called at the station. I then had the cheek to stop the trolley and buy booze but no food!

I have ordered a takeaway to a pub before because their kitchen was closed, but they let me have cutlery! And I'm pretty sure I've seen people do it on the late night trains back home from King's Cross...

When I was 18-19 I spent many nights in a pub round the corner from my then house, and there was no kitchen, but the landlord used to take orders from his regulars and get a delivery to the pub. The take away selected to order from varied night by night when he ordered, normally was Wednesday and Sunday evenings. The biggest evening I recall, Christmas eve comes to mind although cant be sure, there was 34 of us ordered Chinese for delivery. Amazingly it all turned up and correct within under an hour.

Newport (South Wales) station is barriered - the OP got the conductor to call the station to have them let the deliveryman in

It's ATW/TAC. I thought it looked like a 158 but those sculpted seats looked a bit too fancy for that, hence my suggestion of the Gerald.

I wish they'd been that nice when I was heading up to Aberystwyth every other week!

I was merely explaining why I'd initially ruled out 158s despite the fact that the panelling, windows etc. made me think it might be.

There's a Daily Mail article on it (slow news day!), where they claimed it was the 17:48 from Port Talbot Parkway (ex Swansea or Pembroke Dock), to Paddington, yet they were shown getting off a 158. Something doesn't add up :/

EDIT: Wait no, they've even got a map on there, turns out it was the 17:48 from Milford Haven to Manchester Piccadilly (was on a Sunday haha).

So they managed to collect the pizzas within two minutes that the train was there? That's pretty good going. Then again if you've paid online, and checked the platform allocation in advance to tell the delivery guy, it wouldn't very long at all.

Think I read it took 50 seconds for pizzas to be exchanged.
