Looking for 1960s train seats...

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me with something. I work at a theatre in Colchester and we are currently on the look out for some 1960s train seats. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I may be able to find some. I have contacted the national railway museum but unfortunately I have had no response. I have also been asked to find some train hostess trolleys, is this correct for the period?

Have you tried asking one of the Heritage Railways in your area to see if they have any seats that have been removed from a coach that is being restored?

I can't provide any info on 'Hostess Trolleys' i'm afraid.

Refreshments on trains were generally got from the buffet coach at that period, rather than brought to you on a trolley wheeled down the train.

Try going down to Chappel and Wakes Colne. The East Anglian Railway Museum might be able to help you out! it's not that far from Colchester!!

You might want to give St Leonards Railway Engineering Ltd a call as they used to have stockpiles of debris, including a back-catalogue of MK II doors.
