At the origin station the destination on the PIS shows 'Liverpool Central' and it announces the calling points up to Liverpool Central then at James St the destination changes to the origin station e.g. 'New Brighton' and when it changes it announces the calling points as being Moorfields, Lime St, James St and stations back to the origin.
However, on NRE it shows the destination as being to the origin station with 'circular' in brackets afterwards.
In the evening peak I think there's an odd Chester to Ellesmere Port via Liverpool service.

Does the one day a week parliamentary from Kyle of Lochalsh-Aberdeen still run? That was down to call at Inverness twice in succession, coming in on a Far North/Kyle platform, reversing out, onto the Rose Street Curve, then reversing back into the Edinburgh/Aberdeen platforms.

There used to be a Summer Sat/Sun only service (back in the 80s) from Leeds to Morecambe and vv which went via Bradford Forster Square so would call at Shipley twice. At the time it was the only regularly scheduled Leeds-Bradford service via the Aire Valley route.

I think there was also a service from Lancaster (or south of) to Barrow via Morecambe which would call at Bare Lane twice. (or maybe Barrow-Lancaster!)
Just checked and the 1427 on Sundays from Lancaster to Leeds goes via Morecambe so calls at Bare Lane twice at 1434 and 1450.
As does the M-F 1603 ex Lancaster at 1609 and 1623.

For me the links in those posts show the screens for entering your query and information about cross london transfers from Euston.
Why not just give the time of the service?

I meant which service is it?
Looking at that link it is two seperate trains. One to Northampton and one form Northampton rather than a timetabled Euston to Euston train.

It appears on the Journey Planner as a service from Euston to Euston. Try searching 'EUS to MKC via NMP, direct trains only.'

But its a data error, an association has been left in the public system for whatever reason, in reality no more of a through service than anything that ever turns around or comes back again on its next working.

If this is indeed an error, surely, until correction, it is a train service that meets the criteria.

My understanding is that this train runs over the curve and then backs into Inverness, ratehr than stop there twice.

Trains also do stop in both directions at Capenhurst when the Chester branch frequency reduces to every 30 min Evenings & Sundays
If were using Underground systems then Monument on the Tyne & Wear Metro has the same line calling in on different levels

Last time I went on the Fife Circle (which was around 2006 so it may have changed since) the automated announcement on leaving Edinburgh was "For Edinbugh Waverley" calling at all the places on the circle.

Normally trains running via Liverpool central are displayed as such on the departure boards.
However at the moment with the loop being shut several are showing as Chester - Chester.

Not sure the 0546 is booked to call at Bare Lane after leaving Morecambe.

Before the Class 139 parry people mover, trains used to call at Stourbridge Junction, Stourbridge Town, Stourbridge Junction within a fairly short period of time

I stated in my opening post that I knew undergroud systems stopped at the same place twice, stating in brackets Tyne and Wear.
Thanks for the replies guys, I never thought it was that common of a thing to happen...I will have start doing better research in future

not in NRT table 98 either but Northern may be right although it's a TPE train.
There's an intertesting footnote for the 0819 Sat Leeds - Morecambe service in Table 36 of the NRT

Not sure how we're supposed to interpret that!
Looks like a planner's marginal note which has escaped deletion. MSJ is Morecambe S Jn, and the WTT arrival at LAN is 2 minutes earlier than in the public document - not obvious why. The train reporting numbers don't relate to any relevant Saturday service.

Not sure that the 0622 Leeds to Leeds is one train, it's advertised as Leeds - Halifax and appears as such on Real Time Trains.
Presumably where a train doubles back there is a suitable easement to allow people to actually travel on it?

That's happened quite recently (in the last few weekends, but I can't find an example on OTT) where long-distance services have set down at Stevenage, reversed and then picked up at Stevenage a few minutes later.

It was on Sunday 23rd June, and I think it was single line working north of Stevenage, so it had to reverse back into the station to pick up passengers on the wrong line!
Hehe, it produces some 'interesting' announcements at Piccadilly sometimes that one.
'This is a platform alteration. The 1659 Northern service from Manchester Piccadilly will now arrive on Platform 3'.
