Paris-Orleans Intercites trains - reservations

Hi. I know someone out there will know the answer to this..

We're travelling to Orleans from Edinburgh (by train, naturally) later this month.The Eurostar is fine, but we're going from Paris to Orleans and back on Intercites trains. Got a decent fare both ways, but it wouldn't give out reservations - presumably because these trains aren't compulsory reservation.

Are these services normally crowded? Are reservation tickets or Voyager type displays used to indicate reserved seats? I can handle standing for an hour, but my partner can't!

We're talking the 1327 from Gare D'Austerlitz on Monday July 22nd and the 1226 from Les Aubrais/Orleans to Paris on Sunday July 29th.

Can't imagine the Monday train would be specially busy, but the Sunday train might (the Advance fare is higher, which is a clue) - the SNCF site says "reservation recommended" so it must be possible, I would have thought doing that when you arrive at Orleans would be useful. No idea how reserved seats are shown, sorry.

Paris - Orléans services are regular - almost an hourly shuttle. In fact rare now in Europe being a frequent longer distance loco hauled shuttle non push pull.

You should have little problem getting a walk on seat, especially of you are ready to board as soon as the platform is announced.

Sadly at present all these services are stopped due to the tragic crash at Bretigny.

Thanks Gordon. Will need to keep an eye on the various websites for information.

Obviously much more important now are the families of those who died and the recovery of the injured.
