This was not tendered as part of the main Mid Fife exercise, but is a duplicate bus which Stagecoach have been running since the Easter holidays, but it finishes next week.

Why was a dup needed? also that tender only for one year.

That makes even less since, If stagecoach were providing the dup for a service bus why on earth are council tending this out?

If it was for a school service, how did someone get the maths so wrong.

Perhaps I made that too complicated!

The only reason I know for any duplicate journey to run, is that the there are too many passengers for the original "service" journey.
In this case there were too many passengers for the Seafield - West primary school service, largely due to new housing in the area, and Stagecoach were asked to provide a duplicate bus for one term.
The council have obviously decided to contract the "duplicate" for a further year, hence this tender going out to operators, who will of course now know what work they have to potentially fit it around.

At least all 68 new passengers will have seat, thanks to the addition service being added

Service B1: Burntisland town service
This Fife Council funded service will now be operated by Bay Travel, and passengers should check with the new operator (01383 516161) or the council (01592 583223) for information regarding any proposed route or timetable changes.

Nice to see a bus company acknowledge the new company, when its lost a tender - good customer service (compared to the usual "this service has passed to another operator" / "we will no longer operate this service" with no further details provided)

I assume that's more to do with council funding issues, and the fact that other commercial services provide an option.

The 13 is generally busier between Leven and Buckhaven. Not so much an issue during the day as there will still be 48/48A 49 49A 6/6A/6B. That said, areas in Methil/Buckhaven such as Oakvale Road, Poplar Road, "The Bird Scheme" and Barony and Lower East Wemyss will have no service.

In the evenings and on Sundays there will be no direct service to/from Kirkcaldy for areas like Starkie's Woods, Methilhill, Kirkland Walk (apart from a few X27s which have limited stopping points). This is where the public will miss service 13 most, I suspect. I think the 44A will be serving past the bus depot and along Kirkland Walk.

As far as Olympians are concerned, St.Andrews still has 16165 16166 & 16178, although days are obviously numbered now. Interestingly it would appear 16163 has been given to Methil fire station. 16132 is still at Aberhill. 16230 also, which is an S reg and still has until October if memory serves me correctly.

There are a few ex-London Tridents being prepared for service in Aberhill depot and I assume these will replace some of the Olympians. A mix of V X Y 51 & 52 plates. Some of the fleet numbers (forgive me as these are from memory!) 17113 17347 17579.

I've also heard a rumour that Aberhill are getting new Optares to be used on X4 43A 44A and 32 routes. I assume there will be some fleet movements in August to co-incide with the service revisions.

Council would not have withdrawn from areas unless the demand was very very low, which must be the case. Starkie's Woods, Methilhill, Kirkland Walk will have a direct service at those times with the revised 44A as its altered to serve Methil Brae/Kirkland Walk

Would make sense, since said service have been changed to operate all day including school times. It seems Stagecoach has pick up something else:

* certain journeys rerouted via Coaltown of Balgonie which will be numbered 46A or X4A.

Further changes later in August include stagecoach winning the tender for the new 15 alloa - falkirk replacing first. A few other changes are eexpected.

The X4 takes the same time as the 44, timetabled 23 minutes, the 43 and 46 take 32 minutes.

I have no idea now, that is what the website says.

If anyone is interested, the council has save 1 bus during the day and 3 in the evening/Sundays with these changes, which will make them very happy.

Some updates from Aberdeen which I gleaned from a driver when I was there on Monday.

All of the new Enviro 300's are now delivered to King St with the last one arriving on Sunday.They are all registered but only one is/was taxed and on the road (67784) and this is undertaking familiarisation runs for the drivers as these are the first Enviro single deckers for the depot ending the monopoly of Volvo's.

The launch of the new buses will take place on 1st July and most are in "Northern Lights" branding with route 17/18 markings. A small number (5-6) will remain unbranded.

If you are going to the open day some of the buses will be moved out to make room for the various events and displays taking place and they will be parked at Pittodrie by Aberdeen FC stadium.

Well the first Fife depot to go 100% accessible is Dunfermline. It's beaten St. Andrews and Glenrothes by just 48 hours! With the last ex Rock Ferry B7TL on stream now, the last Olympian at Dunfermline has been withdrawn. The three remaining Tridents at St Andrews will remain until the end of the week, as will 20342 at Glenrothes.

Two 04 plated Tridents are en route from East Midlands, destination is Aberhill.

Pittodrie will not hold all the buses not used on a Sunday. They usually use the exhibition centre to park them.

Just spotted a east lancs vyking heading to carnoustie from arbroath/dundee at muirdrum about 1015 showing 'not in service'. Any ideas what it was doing and where was it going?

And just saw an E400 heading towards dundee just leaving arbroath just now at 1025. And again where was it going?

There are just three B10M-55s left now in service in the whole of east scotland, one of which is 20342 at Glenrothes. The other two are 20151 and 20916 at Perth, and these are likely to survive beyond June, as Perth and Kinross contracts have a higher upper age limit than Fife.

I saw 20342 in Perth on Saturday,well actually I heard it before I saw it!

Revised timetable. Service 44A journeys (evenings & Sundays) now operate via Methil Brae (north), Kirkland Walk (east) and Aberhill Depot instead of via the Tower Bar, which is served by Services 48B/49B.

Ferrytoll is an interchange as well. You can buy a through ticket from North Queensferry to Kirkcaldy on the bus. I think that Scotrail missed a trick not building a station there though.
