IOW to London Fare Advice

Hello, I am planning to travel from the Isle Of Wight to London on 31st July and Returning from London on 9th August with a YP card . I need to get to London around 11ish and have a travelcard for the 31st July. On the 9th August I will not need a travelcard and will just be travelling back at 16.30ish.

I can travel from any Isle Of Wight Destination Shanklin/Ryde, West Cowes or Yarmouth and don't mind going via Barnham if its cheaper. Megatrain seems to be useless for the times I need to travel.

The Best I have come up with is:
Web only off peak return Portsmouth Hbr to Victoria Route Southern - £19.25
Anytime Return Shanklin-Portsmouth Hbr - £20.45
1-6 Travelcard - £5.90

Total
£45.60

Can any of you experts come up with something cheaper?

Try booking Southampton to Brighton via Not London which is valid up to Clapham Junction and then using the travelcard from there to Waterloo, the train has to stop at Clapham even if its pick up only. Fairly sure there are period returns available. When booking, put in via Clapham Junction.

East Cowes to Southampton is slightly cheaper than West Cowes although it takes an extra 30 mins or so.

There are Ukp5 advance tickets on the 09.00 ish service to Victoria arrives 1116 and 4.02 back. The post desiro service on the pompey direct line isnt worth the huge premium on leisure fares

It's a fairly understandable way to do the journey and i've never had a problem with it before.
