This station is also north of the Bristol/Wash line.

This station replaced the first station built in this town. This was 200 yards to the west, and survived only 6 years.

When this station was reduced in size in the second part of the last century, it was left with the signalbox now on a disused platform.

Yes - Halifax is correct. :D

The original station was at Shaw Syke, some 200 yards to the south.
When the station was reduced in size, the signalbox at Halifax East became the main box [that at West being demolished], and is now on the disused platform 3.
The smell of chocolate/toffee is from Nestle adjacent the station. "Eureka!" is the name of the children's entertainment complex now built on the site of the old yard and disused parts of the station.
