I'm just confused by this email does it mean they have knocked it back and I have to wait longer to see if I get an interview

Well, I take that to mean that they have already filled their requirements for an earlier course that you may have applied for but they will consider you for the next available course after that. In other words, hang on in there and be patient!

It may be the case that vacancies have been filled by candidates who were placed in the talent pool having earlier taken an assessment.

I know I will hang on and be patient. It's better than a rejection email just think 30 sept isn't that far away an haven't even had interview or assessment so its not leaving a lot of time. Once again thanks every one for info much appreciated

Northern rails recruitment team in my experience are very bad. The way that email is worded you have mentioned, is misleading if you haven't been to assessment centre or interview. It reads almost like you have the job. (But obviously not if u have not been to assessment)

I know that is what I was thinking because it will take that long to get through them so I'm just going to wait and see if I hear anything it's just a pain not knowing what is going on

Excellence in practise at the moment was a mis-spelling sent out to candidates for 5 jobs across the north. This beats Virgin warning failed candidates to 'check their spelling and grammer'.

The email was (unfortunately) titled in error.....
Your Appointment Y2013/XX Driver/Conductor at Station X
....which gives the impression people have got the job.....

.....Then open it and it reads 'you've not got it.'

i

I applied for one of three vacancies for conductors in Skipton on 24th April, went for an interview and then passed the psychometric tests in mid June.

I was informed that my application was being put on hold even after doing all of that.

I received the following email when I asked them for an update;

Hi Andrew
*
We recruit to a train crew plan which is subject to change; at present I am unable to confirm the start date.

We will be in touch as soon as we have any further information.
*
We would like to thank you for your patience and continued interest in Northern Rail.
*
Kind regards
The Recruitment Team

So I'm still none the wiser as to wether I have got the job subject to passing a medical or when the start date will be.
