There will be a lot of London cast offs I imagine, the majority of the Olympian fleet needs to be replaced by this time next year, and there's not exactly much spare school-suitable stuff anywhere but London.

Monday marked teh day when the vehicles and services on the Rennies and Strathtay Scottish licences moved onto the Fife Scottish Omnibuses licence. Nothing outward has changed though.

I didn't realise.

Here, in Yorkshire, all of the "Andrews Sheffield Omnibus" routes are moving over to the "Yorkshire Traction" licence - didn't realise they were tidying up licences elsewhere too.

Mid Fife contracts come out during the week.

Biggest shock is although stagecoach lost a couple of the schools runs, nearly all were off set by other gains. Moffat and Williamson are the biggest losers of the new contracts, only gaining three of the contract pile. Why have there done some badly? Two of the new winners will have alot of Dead running to operate these routes.

What about the local bus services? Everything is staying the same expect for the following:

* K3 will no longer do Glen ayble drive during the evenings nor sundays.

* 48/49: it seems will have a revised route and timetable.

Well there won the tender to go via Glenrothes hospital No4. Saying that I never saw the Early morning tender for No2.

Just the section via Glenrothes Hospital is tendered. Incidentally, one of the contracts from Cadham to Glenrothes High School used the bus on route 4. It came off at schooltimes. So, no jobs will be lost on that regard, but it'll be interesting to see what M&W do now.

I hope M&W survive - their competition twenty years ago was the spur for Fife Scottish (as was) to sharpen up some of their main routes (St Andrews to Dundee via Pickletullum was one peak journey M-F before the M&W X95, similarly there were only a token number of fast Glenrothes to Kirkcaldy services via the Thornton bypass before competition - obviously there were regular St A - Dundee services via the slower Tayport route and regular Glenrothes - Kirkcaldy services via the slower route through Thornton village).

I get the feeling the new manager does not care much for the Glenrothes operations. I would not be surprised if a few of the company give up some of the gains.

So any company that is particularly successful may well opt to not accept certain awards. You can hardly run a dozen contracts if your O Licence only allows you to run 10 buses!!
I would expect the major operators (Stagecoach in this instance) would bid for all contracts, but I'd be surprised if they took them all, if the were ever to actually win everything. They wouldn't have the depot space!

That isn't actually true.
Fife Council award contracts purely on the basis of lowest price, so if one operator happened to offer the lowest price for every contract, then they would have to be awarded to them.

I'm interested to see that an oly is still out and about as my calculations suggest that after the proposed cull in St Andrews this week there will only be 16 left in Fife excluding the Rennies batch. Dunfermline and Leven appear to be down to two and the same number should be left in St Andrews. Other than schools what services are left that you might find any Fife olys on? It looks to me like it will be a real struggle to find them in public service.

In addition to the above question will any olys get used in July for T in the park and Muirfield or should the shuttles now be all low floor? In which case could olys be used in public service in Fife if low floor vehicles are cascaded to Muirfield for a week? I am assuming Stagecoach will be providing the vehicles to these events.

One final question and that is what do the three Arbroath olys do and do they work from there or somewhere else like Forfar, Montrose and Dundee? I don't recall seeing any mention of them on here for Stagecoach East Scotland.

Thanks for that info. Do we have a rough idea as to when the last two B7TL's enter service like middle or end of this month?
It will be interesting to see what is used for Muirfield after TITP has finished.

PS was on the 0727 44 from Glenrothes to Leven and back on the 43 this morning. Replaced a E300 with broken suspension.
