We continue on the 2326 GA departure to Attleborough, arriving at 2349 Monday evening

Time appears to have finally run out on us, so we make ourselves as comfortable as possible and resign ourselves to await the arrival of the first available train and we board the 0552 GA service to Thetford that arrives there at 0605 on Tuesday morning.

We decide the attractions of East Anglia are wearing thin, so get the 0623 EMT service and travel as far as Alfreton, arriving at 0906 on Tuesday morning

An opportunity now to travel to a railway station that is supposed to have been the one that Paul Simon was on when he wrote "Homeward Bound", so we board the 1007 EMT service to Widnes that arrives there at 1205 on Tuesday afternoon.

Having taken one glance at Widnes station we can fully understand why the song-writer longed to be back home, so without further ado, we board the following NT 1223 all-lamp-posts Pacer to Liverpool Lime St, arriving 1253, Tuesday lunchtime.

Deciding Liverpool is little better (dons flame proof suit) we get outta town fast on the 1322 TPX service and travel to Malton, arriving at 1603 Tuesday afternoon

That flame-proof suit made us quite hot and thirsty, so a refreshing cup of tea in Malton station meets the need. Then we step outside and board the 1647 Transdev Yorkshire Coastliner service 840, to Pickering [Eastgate], where we alight at 1710, Tuesday tea-time.

We catch the EYMS 128 bus at 1807 and travel to Kirbymoorside Market Place arriving 1830 Tuesday evening

Time still to obtain an onward omnibus connect from this area to a small settlement where we once stayed at on a healthy walking holiday some 40 years ago, so we board the 1906 EYMS service 128 to Hutton Buscel (Bus shelter) that arrives there at 2001 on Tuesday evening.

We have a brief time to explore this settlement, that was mentioned in the Domesday Book, and note from the Parish notice board the amount of active social groups there are in the village.

All too soon though our next bus arrives and we continue on the 20:22 EYMS 128 service to its destination - Pickering (Ropery Road) arriving at 20:55 on Tuesday

This time on a Tuesday night is not one to seek any services from the bus terminus, so having booked in for overnight accommodation, we see what we can near to the NYMR railway station and the castle ruins before retiring for the night and in the morning, we return to the bus terminus at Ropery Road and board the 0745 EYMS service 128 to Scarborough station that arrives there at 0840 on Wednesday morning.

We have breakfast in Scarborough before returning to the stops outside the station for the 0940 Arriva North East x93 service to Robin Hoods Bay, where we alight at Thorpe Lane at 1018, Wednesday morning.

We take this opportunity to stretch our legs and to see some of the local area before returning back to the bus stop to board the 1118 Arriva North East service X93 to Guisborough (Market Place) that arrives there at 1223 on Wednesday afternoon.

After a look round the Market Place, we board the 1313 Arriva NE Service 81, and enjoy a lovely run via Roseberry Topping to Stokesley High St, arriving 1341, Wednesday afternoon.

Not too long to wait for our next onward connection and we board the 1349 Abbot & Sons service 80 to Romanby (The Green) that arrives there at 1443 on Wednesday afternoon.

We find public transport in this area is not an easy option so have a little time to wait. Therefore we can explore this community. It's name would suggest it came from the time of Roman occupation, but we understand it is derived from the Viking name Hromund. We retire to the Golden Lion pub whilst we consider the history of the original church - demolished in 1523 on the orders of the Bishop of Durham, Thomas Wolsey. Luckily the Victorians built a new church in 1882. It consists of a nave without aisles and chancel in the “Perpendicular” style. There is an attractive slender cupola and spire above the chancel arch, housing a bell.

Back at the bus stop we depart on the 15:55 Abbotts Coaches service 89 and alight at Ingleby Cross (Post Office) arriving at 16:30 on Wednesday afternoon.

We explore the environs of this area and on our return, we find that we are in time to make a journey that passes through the normal terminal point to an outlying area (this bus service has a letter-suffix added to its normal service number) so we board the 1735 Abbot & Sons service 89C to Exelby (Leeming Village) that arrives there at 1825 on Wednesday evening.

I was finally informed by the service opertor that the only bus stop in Leeming Village is on Roman Road but they refuse to put this on their online timetable information submitted to the local transport authority.

I rang the bus depot of G.Abbott & Sons who said that particular 89C service is terminated in the only bus stop in the centre of Leeming Village, which after some time was admitted to be on Roman Road. However, they also keep the area name of Exelby stating that it is there in the timetable for the reason...."It has always been like that"....:roll:

It was confirmed that the 1825 arrival time is correct.

He was adamant that they would not, under any circumstances, amend the online timetable information to reflect this and said the local people already knew the location of this 89C service bus stop and then rather rudely just hung up on me....

So there you are. I cannot do any more than what I have have done, as requested. Make of this as you will. Note that the 89C service is not to be found on their own online timeable 80/89 service which, as you will see shows nothing more than the two words ...Leeming Village...nothing else as a timetable entry.

Thanks for the response, though i'm sorry that you have been subject to unnecessary hostility in an effort to clarify such information. As it is there is little chance of complaint against the operator... Their response does explain why online journey planners were having a problem, and doesn't exactly help the situation we find ourselves in.

If everyone is agreeable then i will call a RESUME from the last posted arrival point, but will forego any right to make the next move. Therefore it will be an Open Floor.

I concur with you that this is the first available service onwards. Let us sincerely hope that Dales and District have a more polite operations manager than the ogre-in-residence at G.Abbott & Sons to whom it was my misfortune to speak to....

Can someone now make a new posting which will give both a disembarkation point and time of disembarkation on this service, as it was I who made the last valid posting.

We are indeed thankful for the opportunity afforded to us to change of mode of travel, so we make our way into the railway station in good time to board the 1019 First TPE service to Durham that arrives there at 1047 on Thursday morning.

After realising we wouldn't make the 1048 to Birmingham we take a short rest and instead board the 1056 all the way to Birmingham New Street arriving at 1406 on a nice sunny Thursday Afternoon
