Unexpected Treat from East Coast

I was caught up in the disruption on East Coast on 20th February caused by the overhead wires coming down. I made a delay repay claim and that paid up quickly.

This week East Coast have sent me a £15 voucher on top of the delay repay vouchers.

Most surprised, if only Southern would do the same!

Meant to say they have sent me a £15 M&S voucher, so its not even a rail voucher. Its in addition to the delay repay refund.

No doubt someone will be along to complain, because they don't agree if "a company bends or breaks the rules for an individual [by giving more than they have to] purely because they think they 'deserve' it."

You lucky it wasn't Greater Anglia. A (brilliant) response to their refusal of a refund claim was doing the rounds on Facebook last week.

The GA response was sent back to GA "rolled up" so they could stick it...... err..... :P

Go on then - I know some people aren't happy unless they have something to moan about.

Isn't East Coast publically funded? If so, they're giving away taxpayers' money needlessly. We should all have a share of that £15 M&S voucher - you should get some of those "Mini-Bites" and everybody could have a bit etc.

I wonder if everyone caught up in wires going down with East Coast will receive one? I had a big delay with EC due to wires and haven't seen any M&S vouchers yet!

I guess one has to have done the delay repay application for a start as otherwise they wouldnt have known I was caught up in it.

I also suspect that the vouchers didnt cost them £15, bet M&S gave them a significant discount. However still impressed to have got it.

If EC give out M&S vouchers for every time there's an OHLE issue on the ECML, very soon M&S will be state owned too...
