Is it not Japans Air Nippon who will recieve the plane first? Also Virgin Atlantic is looking to order a further 8 planes.

Unfortunatly i was just departing Las Vegas when this happened so i couldn't see it live

The 787 looks a good aircraft for the air market as a replacement for the 777s and also the 744s. Should provide good competition and i think will do better than the 380 due to size and more popular with the "Summer Charter".

However as with all things i'll wait until it flys pax before i comment as anything can happen.

The 737s will probably go to 2nd tier middle east operators, like the 727s did

Special features with 884s? Fly By Hire? Airbus?

737s won't be replaced by it...

767s are the target audience. With the new 738s and 9s they will be around for a long time. Now Boeings started with the familiar flight deck with the ARNIC661 system more airlines will buy them as training goes down like with the common Scarebusses.

I think it will actually go quite well. Range is amazing though for a mid ranged. I'm sure this thing can out power and move any train.

767s are alright but they are getting old and most dont have Tvs:o:o:o:oleast it looks like boeing are more organised then airbus on releasing aircraft and flying them:roll::grin:

Airbus:
A318 - 100
A320 - 100 , 200
A321 - 100 , 200?
A330 - 200 , New 300 series
A340-200 , 300 , 500 , 600
A380 - 0 not flying yet.

= 12 Planes
Boeing:
707
727 - 100 , 200
737 - 200 , 300 , 500 , 600 , 700 , 800 , 900
747 - 100 , 200 , 300 , 400 , 8
757 - 200
767 - 100 , 200 , 300 , Few 400s flying the skies
777:D 200 , 200-ER , 200LR , 300 , 300 ER
787 -Neally released

= 26 Planes

Boeing beats and is more orginised:)

THis is more like it.. a good Boeing vs Airbus war!!

No 100s though for 320 and 321 any more, forgot 319 and 350 and 310 and 300 and 400 plus loads of other aircraft for both manu's

Any way back to the Boeing vs Airbus!

Airbus: MCDUs fly by wire, common rating, full glass dark flightdeck ECAMs for everything even the PSI ;) And anyone heard of Concorde??

Boeings: Buttons for everything, cakky EFISs and manual ratings manually pumping surfaces :p I think a 737 has a few more crashes behind it ;)

EDIT: Any aircraft can have a variant due to different engines, just airbus don't show off because it can have IFE or GE engines and change the digits. E.g A320-212 for LTE variant...

The 787 is going to be a replacement for the 757s and 767s, and also possibly for the A300 and smaller A330s (maybe the 321 aswell) for those wishing to switch, although Airbus are also bringing out the A350 for that). The 737 still has quite a bit of life in it, with NGs (600s-900s) still being built, and the 737-900 is another replacement option for the 757-200 (and A321). The same goes for the 777.

777 cant be replaced for a few more years , Its been going since 1994 and is coming up to being 13 years old. There already bringing out the 777-200LR which will make long haul travel for a 777s range up to about a 747. 777s Wont be replaced for a few more years:smile:

anything can be replaced, nothing is infalable, all there needs to be is a shift in the market, or where pax fly to, so anything is possible:?:

Agreed. Of course, I do feel that a B777 replacement is not needed in the near future, as they're all doing decent jobs and aer very good aircraft. Of course, in the future, they will need a replacement or an upgrade of the basic/existing model.

It's hard to think of what their next project would be. 737, 747, 757 have all been replaced by new aircraft of updated aircraft (737-8, 747-8, 787 respectively), and 767 is almost covered by 787. Maybe 777 upgrade/replacement will be their next project?

i agree totally but was just saying, the only number left for an aircraft in the 7*7 range would be a 797?

Ah, good point. Maybe a boeing 808?

Aeriously, though, aren't they coming up with Boeing X-1 and things like that?

not sure im afraid at least airbus kept it real by using the a3 series, they could do up to a hundred but boeing were a bit short sighted.

Yeah it could be because as everything else is getting replaced , the two longhaulers (777 and 767) are always being expanded , in a few months time we could see a 767-500 , and the 777 LR is already flying but only with PIA airlines.

I had 777s to and from Barbados. Although First Class is mint, the planes need a overhaul, the video screens are quite buggy.

British Airways. I don't know about the reg or anything, I just read "Boeing 777" off the safety booklet. Each of the screens I used had some problem, one had a vibrating projector, another only had mono sound etc. I didn't get any pix.

Ascot, the 787 wasn't created to replace the 744, both Aircraft are completely different Seating Ranges. The largest variant 787-9 is upto 290 Seats, 787-10 hasn't been announced but the 747 is 420 Seats. A huge Seating Gap.

77W is built to partially to replace older 744s.

Fred777, it doesn't matter how many Models of Aircraft Boeing makes it doesn't make them any more "Organised" than Airbus. Boeing has been making Aircraft since the early 1900s, Airbus was created late 1960's, obviously Boeing is going to have more Models.....
