At the request of an Administrator I am required to add some text to my post - rather than just a hyperlink by itself.
The video is a humorous appearance by the chairman of Virgin Group, Sir Richard Branson -aka The Bearded One - promoting a new opportunity for certain customers of Virgin to interact with other customers on the same Virgin flight

What a great idea, said nobody ever.

Seriously? I can imagine that this would make quite a few people uncomfortable...

This video is worse than the Tyne & Wear Metro musical. I wish I could get my 1m49s back :(

Jesus Christ, that's completely frigging horrible. <(

I mean, sexual harassment on planes (where you are effectively trapped and can't escape the harasser) is already a big and horrible enough thing without this making it a whole lot easier to stalk someone midair.

I could see this actually putting off a very large number of passengers, mainly female. Did anyone not male actually think about this at all before they introduced it?

And people wonder why his company is called Virgin :) . I mean he obviously hasn't got much experience in this sort of thing.
This can't work surely, this is the creepiest thing I have ever seen.
Still watch beardy try to roll it out on pendos.

You can already order drinks for yourself on Virgin America's seat-back entertainment system, as well as send a message to another seat, so it's nothing too technologically radical. Virgin America is loss making and is basically trying every "innovation" it can think of to increase revenue, as it deals with heavy competition from larger US airlines.

I know a couple of ardent feminists who would be appalled by what Branson is suggesting. What I don't like about the video is that it seems to promote being creepy - as other posters have suggested I doubt a female traveler on Virgin Atlantic would respond well to a really creepy man hitting on her via the seat to seat delivery system. I can imagine when this video goes viral, Branson may well have to apologise.

I can't imagine the seat-to-seat system being installed on Pendolinos as I doubt the current temporary franchise agreement probably doesn't allow provision for their installation, and the system wouldn't work with passengers standing in the vestibules and aisles.

At least it wasn't as frightening as the launch of Virgin Brides.
